2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission AC Stopleak ?

My evap has been leaking in my 97 2500 for some time now and it's a pain to get to it and a couple of people suggested using the stop leak. What's the pro and con of using this stuff? Will I hurt the system with it? I never have liked using the 'bandaid' approach but it's going to be awhile before I can pull the evap out and it's getting hot here in the Houston area again... .

Besides the bandaid , the stop leaks are for very small holes that are not going to get larger , besides that I would say get a brand name product .

Don't use it! Most repair shops won't touch a system once that stuff has been put in a system.

My 94 360 gasser had a leak in the evap coil and I know the frustration for access. I don't believe in bandaids especially for AC problems, Compressors are exspensive and the rebuilds are known for seal leaks. I am a AC tech and performed the repair myself, what a big job that was.

I had a small leak that needed to recharged about every four months or so. I ended u[pusing one of these products and I havent had a problem since!

$20 worth of bandaid and AC is still cold as of a month ago. My stuff leaked out and it is still holding. I think it is better than going to ac shop and have them tell me I need a new system for $1500. had that happen at 3 different places. found a guy that does a mobile ac service for another car... then I found a guy who for $600 he replaced the compresor, orifice, evac/ recharge, and did it all in my driveway. very happy, think he went back to australia. Saved $900.

yea we don't want to clog up a $4k ac machine with someones band aid, had a car come on the other day that instead of just a used condensor and new dryer is getting his whole system flushed and compressor drained and refilled with fresh oil to get rid of the stop leak that didn't fix the gaping hole his transmission cooler rubbed in the condensor
