AC Temperture Cycling Switch

Need a new Air Conditining "Temperature Cycling Swithch" for my 1992 W250. Old Chrysler part number per Dodge dealer is 56005783. No luck so far on aftermarket parts. Any ideas other than salvage yards?

Advance Auto parts shows to have it, # is 36667. Any good auto supply should have or can get it. Ask for clutch cycling switch. bg

AC Temperature Clycling Switch

Thank you for the quick response. However when I tried on the Advance Auto Parts web page nothing came up for part 36667 search and when I called AAP they said 36667 went to a hydraulic hose. When I searched in AC clutch cycling switch category I found nothing that looked like my switch for my 1992 W250. What I'm looking for is a rectangular box with 5 wires coming out. 2 wires go to a temperature probe that goes in a pocket on the outside of the freon return line to the compressor. The other 3 go to an electrical connector that then connects to the wires to the compressor clutch. Does that sound like what you found? Was there maybe a typo in the part number you sent?

I may have mislead you? Where is the switch you are looking at located? Soundl like the AC relay which has five wires. Is it a plug in unit? The switch I looked up is mounted in the return line or accumulator? I will re-chek the number. bg

The part # should have been 36677, that switch has R134 stamped on the side. They also show a switch #35800 to fit but these switches are just two terminal and screw onto the system fitting. The relay part # is 36103. The old Haynes manual i have shows it to be inside the PDC box. bg

AC Temp Cycling Switch

My system is still R12. The switch is located near the firewall on the right side almost under the hood spring. I will try to attach a scan of the picture in my shop manual. The cap shown is not part of the switch - it is the cap for the low pressure test port. It is not a plug in unit (no spade connectors). Instead the temp prob goes into a holder to measure temp on the outside of the return line to the compressor (2 wires) and the other wires (3) go to an electrical connector which goes to the compressor to engage/disengae the compressor clutch. It looks like it just bolts on to a gracket to hold it in place.

Look at part #35811 on Autoparts.com and see if it resembles yours? I have one that you can have if so. I believe I had it on an older Chrysler car. It has a temp probe (capillary) about 6" long on two wires, four more wires going to a female plug with four terminals inside, a male plug that goes into that one and it has a ground wire, A red wire and a white wire coming off it. bg

I found the part you are talking about 35811 which looks like the one you have. It is not a replacement for mine. Mine is supposed to be closed (clutch engaged) above 45F and cycle the compressor on and off as necessary to keep the evaporator from freezing. It is a sealed not adjustable not repairable item per Dodge. Guess I'll keep trying - maybe a salvage yard.
