It is not actually that big of a deal but my AC is on when I set the control to the third click which is the first of the two vent options. What is causing this? Been meaning to take the dash apart but figure that i'll post and see if someone already knows the answer and save me from trouble-shooting. :)

Isn't that the bi-level setting? Going through the dash vents and the floor vents? If so, it's supposed to be running. There are only 3 settings where the AC isn't running - off, dash vents only, floor vents only.

I don't remember the order of the control settings but late last year I noticed that if I am running the AC (of which I have 2 settings AC and max AC) and then switch it to vent (the one that sets it to just blowing out the upper vents that I have to turn the control to off first then to the vent position I want otherwise the AC just keeps working and doesn't shut off. Not that big of a deal but something isn't right becasue it didn't use to do this. Am thinking about wiring in an ac switch.

On my 98. 5 I believe the third setting is also AC but it doesn't have the little snowflake. I remember looking in the owners manual and seeing a dash with the snowflake on the third setting as well as the first two. I will try to remember to go look.
