when i'm pushing the pedal down it has smoth acceleration but then it like "burps" and everyone does the head jerk (forward) then it resumes again like normal. it is really noticable when i make a start from a dead stop. in 2nd gear i push the pedal down then it does the "burp" thing. when i shift it's not noticable. i really wouldn't can but the friends do... it's hard to explain but any help would be a help

and an update on my truck: got the front end allined, need to replace the pitman arm (arm that comes off of the power steering pump), see if i can fix play in power pump. how hard is it???? need new front tires (no tread left) and most important got my stacks from my dad's work today. oh sweet mitter cut :D :D :D

I'm having a little (ok alot) of trouble with the description here bud... .

Does the pedal stick then come free...

If your head moves forward that would suggest deceleration... am I thinking right here... ???

If you operate the pedal while stopped does it go down smoothly/rough/sticky or what???

more info...

pb. .

it doesn't stick. it "burps". really. as i push the pedal down it acclerates say 1000 rmps to 1500 rmps then the engen rpm's drop down to an idle. like i just completly let the pedal out but i'm not i'm still pushing it down. say i push the pedal down a 1/2 of an inch it then it does the "burp thing" or engen drops down to an idle then i push it down another 1/16 of an inch and it resumes like normal.

so

-no it doesn't stick

-it does decelerate

-when i operate the pedal at a stop, the pedal goes down smothly with the "burp" in it

ALSO it only does it when i take off slowly. like if i push the pedal down 3/4 of an inch right after i let the clutch out it won't do it. it seems like it only does it at one spot. say 1/2 inch to 9/16 inch it will "burp" but other then that spot it's ok.

Dude,

First things first. Have someone work the pedle from inside while you watch everything operate. Check all ther pivot points and linkages from the pedle to the pump's throttle arm. Do this with engine running and off. Pay attention to all the springs. Unhook the linkages and isolate the different parts to feel for smooth operation.

You will want to determine if its linkage related or pump related. If you should not find anything wrong, it may be time to pull the top off the AFC and look at the fuel pin oiperation,(not the cone).

Still no luck? Then remove the top of the pump and inspect the gov linkage(s)

Seen this happen when the lift pump is fixin to go, alot of trucks will run seemingly well with a dead one because the inj pump will still draw. (my wifes truck would run fine w/ a dead pump until I put a guage on it to prove to the dealer that even though you could hear it running (second gen), a below zero indication on the guage means no output). Other trucks will not tolerate low output at all and will stumble. Failing crank/camshaft position sensor will affect driveability also.

We don't have a crank sensor that controls the pump's function and I have seen the older 12's run fine with the cratered lift pump.

You stated that the engine will run fine, and take the trottle when you git on her, so I'm leaning towards the linkage(s)

Let us know what you come across.
