The problem is not the TDR servers - see this post https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61241 . If run a tracert as shown in that thread it will allow me to tell you where the problem is. The server is still loafing along since the last upgrade in the spring. The TDR spent approximately $13,000 on the two servers alone at that time. The servers the TDR is running are so fast that they generated enough heat to raise the temperature in the data center they are in by 15 degrees when they were installed, causing them to have to install an additional air conditioning unit! In the last several days the highest load on the server was 1. 19 - with 2. 0 being 100% of the dual CPU's being used. MYSQL is what serves up the data for the forums and only . 017% (2/100 ths of 1 percent) of queries are taking more than 10 seconds. We have two servers and when and if the traffic loads get high enough I can configure them to split the load. Right now they are setup in a master/slave relationship so that there is a continuous backup of the site. Most likely the problem you experienced was something on the internet backbone. For example, the last two nights there has been a major backbone problem in chicago where I had the same problem you are describing - at that time there were 335 people online on the forums. About a month ago we were having some problems at the hosting facility that was causing slow responses and I hounded them for a few weeks until it was resolved. Since that time the only slowness problems I'm aware of have been on the backbone.
