I did not get a price yet, going to call today. I love the idea of using the wheel well dead zone for tool boxes. going from a 8' with cross bed toolbox to a 6. 25 bed with out crossbox measures about the same. and I will just open tail gate for plywood or sheet rock
Only problem I see with it is, if you need to get into the side boxes with anything loaded in the bed behind the traversing gate you'd have to unload. It's looks like the gate has to be all the way to the rear, to open the boxes.
I just installed this in my truck last weekend. I went with the basic kit because I have a spray in liner. The boxes are very high quality for being plastic and look like they will hold their shape. The doors were very ridgid and appear like they will be able to seal off well. I have a 5th wheel hitch in mine and the doors for the boxes open with no clearance problems. I have not used the gate but I believe the boxes would be accessible with the gate in any position. The installation is an absolute breeze and after installed either box can be removed by undoing two large wing type nuts by hand. About a 30 second process. The access into the boxes is a bit narrow, but It has not been a problem yet. I paid $599 but I have heard of some dealers offering 10% off. I would recommend the accessory tie down set. It is real slick and gives solid places to tie down.
Thanks for the reply, sounds like I will be getting one also. I always get a long bed with a cross bed tool box,This will be my first short bed,not by choice,so at least I will keep the full length of the short bed
You can still get in the boxes no matter where the gate is. Mine cost me just over $500. 00. The only thing I don't like about it is the openings for the boxes are pretty narrow. Alot of stuff I kept in my old tool box won't fit through the opening. Look in my Photo gallery under murray transport truck #1.
