I realize it would be best to replace the factory cover with a better product. But, is there enough clearence to tap and install a temp probe in the stock cover?

Yes there is but it won't drain all the oil out especially the sludge on the bottom, need to wipe that out with a rag.

The way I've done it on other applications is to cut a pipe coupling in half and weld it to the bottom of the cover, drill the hole after welding.

The mag-hytec diff cover has a place for a temp probe. I like mine because of the dipstick with a magnetic tip and a drain plug which is magnetic as well.



It doubles the volume of the oil in the diff so the oil is cooler.....

Why waste yur time. The diff's don't get hot enough to worry about from what I've seen.
