Add Mopar Sirius to Uconnect truck not working!

Just forked out $300 for the receiver and install kit from the dealer because I figured the only system I would be able to get to work with Uconnect would be the factory stuff. If the Uconnect is disconnected from the back of the radio (it uses the "cd changer" port) the radio recognizes the SAT radio. If I try to plug the Sirius into the similar port into the Uconnect the way the service manual shows it routing, it does not even see the SAT radio. I am very impressed with the Uconnect itself, but it has made upgrading my stereo a nightmare. I am also very annoyed that due to having Uconnect I cannot use the brackets or instructions that came with the install kit.



Any ideas? Has anyone successfully added Mopar Sirius to a factory Uconnect truck?

Do you have a six disk changer also? I believe you need a jumper wire that y's the cable. If you can wait until Monday, call the 800 number that came with the install instructions. Otherwise list your radio model (small letters on face plate, ie RBC, RAZ etc) and all the audio equipment you have. I think I might have some notes saved, or can look at STAR online.

Couple of thoughts. Either plug the sirius into C2 port on the hands free module behind your glovebox OR... Order install kit #82207564. This is a splitter from Chrysler. Can someone confirm if either will work?

I think we have a misunderstanding - if I had a CD changer I would be out of C2s and need the splitter (if I remember correctly C2 is the designation for the "cd changer" input on the back of the factory radio, and the similar input on the Uconnect module). The only components I am working with are the radio, Uconnect, and the Mopar Sirius receiver. The radio is an rbk I think (whatever single CD only is) and does play the Sirius if I plug the receiver directly into the radio by disconnecting/bypassing the Uconnect. What does not work is leaving the Uconnect plugged into the radio and running the Sirius into the Uconnect module. Connected that way the radio does not even see the Sirius (hitting the "mode" button will only get you CD). I understand how a splitter could help in the changer + Sirius situation, but not here. What 800 number? I looked both sides of every piec of paper that came with both the receiver and the install kit and couldn't find anything but the activation phone number!

What is strange is that if you look in the shop manual. It shows a pin diagram of the C2 plug in the uconnect module. It matches pin for pin with the sirius module. Thats why I thought it might work when plugging into the hands free module. Question: Do you only have one harness from the module to the radio (for uconnect that is). Does it only plug into the C2 plug of the radio or does it go elsewhere as well? This uconnect wiring has me stumped. By the way, the javelina are on the road to the right one mile from Ruby (south of Arivaca) As you climb the hill on the right, lots of pigs in that little valley.

I am not sure if this will help or not. I was over lurking around on the lxforums.com and read several posts about people who add sirius to a vehicle already with factory uconnect. They talk about removing three wires of the bundle coming out of radio C2 and replacing them with the three from the sirius module. They said that the manual shows them how to do it. Do a search over there and see what you think. Worth a try maybe.

Updated info I thought I would put on record:



Finally making some headway with the dealer on my Sirius not working on my factory Uconnect truck. The Service dept. still has not contacted me, but the parts manager contacted Uconnect and is delivering a fax from them to the service dept manager. It states that the condition I described (Sirius works plugged into radio, does not work plugged into third position on Uconnect box) means there is something wrong with the Uconnect box, and it should be replaced.



As a side note, I have since moved on to XM, and discovered that it has much better sound quality. XM and Sirius use two different compression techniques (I think one is PAC3 and the other is AAC+, not sure). The Sirius compression introduces and artifact in the higher frequencies. I can hear it - it is very obvious to me. I am now hoping the dealer will replace my Uconnect box so the port can hopefully support an aux. input for my XM (currently hardwired FM) and I will be giving the Sirius to my father for his truck. Dodge won't take it back since I plugged it in to test functionality (even though they were doing nothing to make it work in my truck), and my dad's hearing isn't perfect anyway).

Did you ever get the new module from the dealer and did it fix the problem?? I could sure use the P/N of the harness that went from the radio to the telematics module. 10 pin to 10 pin?

Thanks, this may be a huge help. Have you seen this cable? Does it have a gray female end for the radio and a black female end for the telematics? These need to be different connectors, the pins are closer together horizontally on the telematics end. I hate to order more parts that I can't use.

One is gray and one is black. The plugs on the cable are actually male as they go into the female ports in the radio and telemaics. And yes the plugs are different.

Great thanks, sounds like exactly what I need. I was going by what the dealer calls them. Since the pins are actually in the radio and module... . and the sockets for the pins are in the plugs, I guess female is how thye refer to them. As long as the darn thing works, i'll be a happy camper. Thanks for the help. I'll post back once I get the harness and uconnect all hooked up.

Also to be sure, this is for the PCI based systems. I am putting uconnect in my wifes's 2005 Town and Country w/ the RB1 NAV radio.

Ok. . there is one problem this part 56050826ad has been discontinued by Chrysler. I have been talking to several dealers and there is no replacement that they can find. Some are still looking. I may need to go to a junk yard but we don't have many in my area. . or I should say the cars are very picked over by the time I get there. One dealer (MoparSuperCenter) that has been retrofitting cars for Uconnect say I can't get the plugs either to make my own. I am going to email Chrysler and also Johnson controls who makes the plug. Any more ideas?

All the parts places Dodoge, chrysler on line show it but when you call about it, they say it is discontinued and no dealer or warehouse has them. I have since found the repair connectors for this cable. I bought both connectors w/ pigtail and will have to solder them together. Hopefully this will solve my problem.
