I have been thinking of trying to add power factory tow mirrors to our ST truck.

It has factory manual tow mirrors now, but it is a real PITA to re-adjust the passenger side mirror without a second person to help.

I looked at the Power Vision Mirror site and they offer a kit to do this change over; however, after a somewhat less than good experience with other after-market mirrors, I much prefer to use OEM mirrors.

Now, at first, this project seems to be straight forward, just buy the factory elec. mirrors, the wiring harness, and the driver door elec. control for the mirrors, BUT..... the ST has manual window cranks, which means that the ST has a different door panel than an SLT truck with electric windows and the window crank is located where the arm rest OEM electric mirror control unit would be located.

Well, I went back to Power Vision and asked if they would sell their elec contol unit as a single item..... no, sorry.

OK, I started looking for a source for their control unit and I found it! Dorman item#901-319 appears to be the one. This unit is used in several Ford trucks (and perhaps cars, too) and is readily available thru local parts stores.

OK, now I can source the control unit and the OEM mirrors.

Next question: can I buy the OEM wiring harness from Dodge? I have not asked yet, so I don't know.

Not being experienced with the electrical aspects of this sort of project, does anyone have the experience to advise me on how to wire up the mirrors? Will the connecting plugs on the Dorman unit and the OEM mirrors/wiring harness match up? How/where would I get the power for the mirrors and connect safely to a fuse?

I don't know if I will go ahead with this project or not, but it does appear to be "doable".
