Does anyone add Zink to their oil? Or does Shall Rotelli have enough Zink in the mixture :-{}out of the container to protect our 5.9 Cummins? I add Zink to my vintage VW engine so lubrication sticks to parts, (horizontally opposed cylinders & heads) the oil rolls down off heads when engine not running.

Thank you for any comments, Patrick

I don't think our engines have to worry about the zinc like the Old VW engines do .

AFAIK, most Cummins engines use flat tappet lifters. The HD oils we use still have Cummins approval, so I would feel safe as is. Any oil sample I had done showed plenty of TBN and anti wear properties, and it's been covered well in past TDR print and web.
I just put 10/30 Delvac in my 340 Duster, which has a high lift mechanical cam and tight springs. I don't plan on adding anything.

Look for a CI+ oil versus the new CJ formulation. The old CI oil has a lot higher ZDDP (zinc) content that the CJ formulation that came out ~ 2007. Some co-ops will still have this oil...sometimes branded as break in oil. Also, Amsoil has it if you buy the Marine AME 15w-40 oil; it has a TBN of 12 as well. If you really want a custom high zinc formulation, contact Driven Racing.

Pretty much all diesel oil has the zinc or similar additives I'm not real sure about the full synthetic oils though I run delo in everything here no issues
