adding diesel treatment

anyone have a trick to adding treatment into the fuel tank using that cheap funnel that comes with a 70K 3500

i use the amsoil additive, where the bottles are shaped so that the mixture goes into the tank. other additives - have a funnel at home just for the ram, as i dont want to have fuel related additive drips/smell in the cab of my truck. the funnel on my 18 2500 is a joke. ive never touched it. cheers!

I have a 100 gallon bulk tank in the bed that all my fuel goes thru before it goes in the truck. I mix the additive in that tank.

When I’m going to use additive I bring a transmission fill funnel. It opens both trap doors perfectly.

I also use Amsoil additives but have found the neck too short to open the inner trap door on my 18. Dad has found the same to be true on his 17 and also carries a funnel.

I don’t use the OEM funnel since I don’t want to put a additive soaked funnel back in the trucks cab.

I use a large Klein screwdriver To big of handle to fall in the hole. But opens the stupid flapper

Since owning a 11 and now a 15 with down stream emissions I have not ran any treatments. Check that, I did run AMZ/OIL Cetane and Fuel Additive in the 11 for a while but did not notice anything different so I used that money for more BEER.

There are a few key pluses to point out regarding reasons for adding Diesel additives. The current diesel has less lubricity which, over time, causes less lubricating of the fuel injectors. These additives are also cetane boosters. Yes, you may not "feel it" in acceleration, but you may see it in improved MsPG. And, during harsh cold winter weather, the "winter" additives are also helpful keeping the fuel from jelling. I use it for these reasons. And you could just use it every other fill-up if you want to save a little money. Also, if you purchase the additives in larger containers, it is cheaper per ounce, and you can refill the smaller containers with the long skinny funnels and keep the smaller containers in the bed of the truck.

Some diesel retailers sell "premium diesel" because they add additives to their bulk tanks, and they post marketing stickers on their pumps. If you call their customer service reps at their central office, you can learn which retailers add additives to their "premium" diesel. Cetane is an important factor in determining the quality of diesel fuel. ...[O]ther measurements of diesel fuel's quality include ... energy content, density, lubricity, cold-flow properties and sulfur content.

Bought this SMALL screw-on (in red) rubbery funnel at the truckstop to pour HOWES into the three tanks requiring diesel. Would work fine for a pickup.

In the past I've used the funnel that came with the truck. When I'm fueling I usually have a paper towel in hand to wipe up any fuel that drips from the nozzle anyway. I use that or a fresh one to wipe off the little funnel after use. I don't think it's a big deal. I also keep the funnel in a zip lock bag in one of the door pockets.

My 93 got diesel, my 24V got diesel and 2 stroke oil, my 2015 got diesel in the big hole and DEF in the little one.

I used the diesel kleen when we full timed for 2 years on my 2015 3500 drw. I didn't use it every fill up, but almost. I never saw a difference, so I quit using any fuel additive. Still don't use it.

Put good, known clean fuel from a high volume station you trust in and rollll... Ive been filling at the same truck pumps for the past 12yrs... never had andy issues on my 04.. 200k on stock injectors, CP3, etc, hope the 20 does well also.. going to get a new pump some day anyway

FWIW. I bought a gallon of Optilube XDP an put it in for a few thousand miles, not sure if there was any benefit, but since the bottle is getting low now and 1/2 the time IO forget to have it when I fill up, I think my next bottle of treatment will be some Buffalo Trace.
