Has anyone been able to accomplish adding the factory auxiliary switches? The dealer told us that everything was just plug and play. They added the switches which did plug into a factory harness but the fuse / relay box and additional harnesses were never added. We have called both the dealer and Ram Body Builder and we were told from Ram Body Builder that these switches cannot be added if the truck did not come with it from the factory. The dealer is still looking into this.
We asked the ram body builder guys where the wires go that plug into factory switches and they could not tell us. They obviously plug into something because when you hit the button the lights comes on.

If you have been able to add these i would like to know what items / part numbers are needed to finished this job. We are also curious where the relay box plugs back into the factory harness.

I have searched the forums but haven't found what i was looking for.

Thanks for the help,

TPruitt

Google is your friend. Aux switches can be added, but to my knowledge, no one has successfully added the switches in a plug n play manner. You'll have to do some wiring wizardry of your own to make them work.

The aux switches were one option on my must have to haves. Unfortunately, I could not find one in Jan, so I opted for the Painless fuse block, and added my own aftermarket switches.

Goodluck.

I thought that if you didn't have the OEM aux switches there would be either a blank row or if you had the comfort package it would be the comfort controls. But you actually have full dummie switches with lights on the bottom row? Are they numbered too?

My truck originally had the blank but the dealer added the switchs. They plugged them into a factory harness behind the dash but we cant figure out where they go from there. Since my truck did not come with switches from the factory my truck is missing the fuse / relay block and the harness where you plug the pigtails in for the accessories. Also, i am missing the option on my EVIC to change the settings of the switches. If we could find out where the wires go we could add our own relays and still utilize the factory switches.

Ahh, I see now. I guess the wires have to go somewhere like you said. Hopefully you can track them down. I really am glad I have them.

Do a google search for Ram aux switches. Lot's of questions and a few answers about adding aux switches. I'm pretty sure you have to make your own wiring harness if your truck did not come factory equipped with them. Also certain that you will not be able to make changes with the EVIC like factory aux switches either. Like I mentioned..... Google is your friend.

What year of truck are you talking about? If I recall, the 2013 or 2014+ is more tightly integrated into the truck's electronics. So this is only applicable to 2010-2012 trucks, which uses a separate Auxiliary Power Distribution Center. I added the factory auxiliary switch bank to my truck earlier this year. You can get the factory box (68049500AB), which is a bit on the pricey side, unless you can find one from a wrecked chassis cab or you will need to build the relay/fuse box.

Here are some pictures

Here is a schematic I created that shows how the relays, fuses, and wiring are connected:

The only change from this was that I ended up using a 6 pin connector to run a fifth switch to the center blank of the switch bank.

Here is the pinout for the back of the switch bank:

If I were to redo this project, I would reconfigure this to mount it on the firewall right above where the ABS module is at and redo the pigtails so they are panel mounted. I think the factory relay box is mounted close to the same area.

Lastly, here is a PDF of the 2011 Auxiliary Switches:

I hope this helps you some. I spent quite a bit of time researching this before I pulled the plug. Then the build itself took me even longer. But I am happy with the end result. If you tackle this, I would encourage you to find a more suitable place than where I placed it on my truck.

My truck is a 2016.

I wish i could used that wiring harness thats shown in the video. The problem is my truck does not have the fuse box or wiring harness to plug those pigtails in.

^^^ That's one of the threads I followed, but I couldn't remember where I saw it. I also remember seeing something on the Ramforums about adding aux switches.

Let us know if you tackle the job, and be sure to take lot's of pics and share them here on TDR
