I am looking at getting the Autometer fuel psi gauge from Geno's. I was wondering if the kit includes everything you need to install it. I will be useing the stearing colum mount. How and where will this tap into my fuel system. I also just got a new VP44 installed by the dealer and the intank fuel pump. Any help would be geratly appreciated. Thanks
 
Geno's would be your best source of info on that, they are real good about answering questions and making sure you have everything you'll need.
 
i dont know what comes with the autometer guage but as said above, genos should be able to help with that. Anyway, where you tap into your fuel system is somewhat up to you, but i would highly recomend doing it after the fuel filter, and before the vp44. that way you know what your vp is receiving, and you can tell when your fuel filter needs changed. A good place is the schrader valve on the vp.
 
My Autometer fuel press. gauge quit, (electronic version) and they sent me a new one under warranty. 2nd one quit in less time. That's when I talked directly to Autometer techs and they said pulsating fuel from the lift pump was damaging gauge sending unit internals. They recommended a fitting called a "snubber" that dampens the pulsations to protect the sending unit. I can not remember the mfgr of the snubber, but I'm sure Autometer can dig that info up for you. My current gauge has lasted for the last 3 yrs since doing this.

Autometer sent me a snubber for free. You can buy one from Mcmaster-Carr, www.mcmaster.com for about $10. Hook the sender up with a piece of fuel hose away from the VP44. Geno's also sells the hose with the fittings.

I installed 2 sensors so I could read before and after filter pressure. Now I can tell whether the filter or the pump has failed, rather than shotgun everything.

I have had excellent luck with finding quality fuel. My current filter has just 1 psi more drop than when it was installed at 13,000 miles. And, in 177,500 miles I have never had water in the fuel!
 
My condolences on the in-tank pump. Guess you had no option though, if the dealer did the VP under warranty, gotta go with what they say - I guess.
