Adding the 3rd Brake Light Backup Camera

My apologies if this topic has already been discussed. I could not find it with the search. I have everything but this option and it would be handy when backing up into the 5er hitch. I have seen a few companies that sell the kits, but wanted to hear from someone who may have installed one in a similar truck. I have the UCONNECT 8.4, if that helps. Thanks guys.

I looked into this a few months back. Its doable but it takes some work. Apparently, the wiring harness for the cargo cam to the 3rd light isn't pre-installed like previous gen Dodge/Rams, so you'll have to run your own wiring. They are aftermarket options that some members have used. Check with SnoKing......

I have one and wish I did not as it placed my backup camera in the rear view mirror.

Just thinking out loud here, but isn't there software options to select camera input to display different camera views? Seems like I read somewhere that you could. Maybe need the "Lockpick" radio hack or one of those type "jailbreak" devices?

That sucks. Which unit did you install and did you have the pre-installed wiring or did you have it done?

Only if your truck is a 2016+ and it came with the cargo camera. I don't have the cargo camera and there is no camera select button on the screen.

My truck is a 15 and I DO have a cargo camera, unfortunately with this option I can NOT choose the location to view it or the tail gate camera. 2016 you can choose the location to view. Spend a bunch of bucks from a Swedish company as they have all the cabling to do the job at a PRICE$$$

Take a look at Infotainment.com, they have re-route kit for the rear view mirror camera to display on the radio display.

I have a 2012.5 and my system has multiple camera selections but none are active. Even the overhead console looks like it has a baby camera in it but it can't be selected. I've heard the additional functionality has to be activated by the dealer. Anyone know if that's true?
