I am not trying to downplay the issue at all..,.....just wonderin' out loud........Me and the dogs were hiding out in the garage, avoiding our responsibilities.....:-laf ..... In further wonderment.....just whose programming is it anyway, FCA or the EPA ?????

Add me to the dead pedal club. Happened a year ago and again yesterday. Both times were similar situations: Pulling out into traffic, doing a right turn on red - after stopping. Pull out with light throttle as normal and then power drops to nothing for a second and then it takes off! Very disconcerting when traffic is coming at you. BTW: I'm a conservative driver and never hot rod and rarely use more than light throttle.

Filed a complaint with NTHSA: Complaint Number: 10953988

That sounds like turbo lag....they do have turbos...

Well documented. Not turbo lag. It's programming. And the sarcasm isn't necessary. Most of the people reading this have more Cummins time under thir belts than you ever will.

2014 with 68 ref , dead pedal when adjusting speed to blend with traffic, ( on, then off pedal , then on and nothing there ) but also from dead stop . This truck also has rpm flare 300-500 rpm especially on the 3-4 . I think the problem is the transmission torque management programing. Dealer reflashed for the trans twice supposively, nothing changed, was then told "they all do that". After the warranty is gone they will magically be able to fix it. This combined with normal turbo lag adds to the terror.

Get an aftermarket BD Diesel tuner to help with it. RAM won't fix it. I've been to hell and back with mine and finally went aftermarket. It will help but not completely resolve the issue. At least on my truck. RAM says "it's performing within designed parameters". Probably has more to do with EPA than anything else and if they fix it, we will be out of compliance for smog issues. Just guessin' but this has to be an easy programming issue and why else wouldn't they do a fix?

Just got my SCR recall S87 , someone else said having this done helped the dead pedal and their trans worked better. Be nice if it also fixes the 300-500 rpm flare on the 3-4 shift . A throttle sensitivity booster is the next step.

So I have the same dead pedal with about a 3 second delay off the line. It is very problematic and not subjective at all. My 03 can smoke my 17 off the line. Going in for a new SCR next week as mine was bad out of the factory. I read a post in response to my complaint who had the same issue and they flashed the pcm or tcm or what ever it is called now and he noticed the shifting being way better.....one can only hope this will fix this very problematic issue. Whats it going to take before they fix it...an accident

I know this is a RAM forum, but those that have the Titan XD 5.0l Cummins with the Aisin have the same issue including myself. Here's a few bits of information I've gathered on the issue.

1. Worst case scenario is a quick transition from braking to throttle. With a stop watch I get 2.7 seconds generally but others report 3-5 seconds.
2. Mash the peddle to the floor and your going nowhere fast. Im better off rolling into the throttle than slamming it to the floor. 2 second lag for me.
3. I'm not convinced this is entirely torque management. I suspect that CAN bus traffic is completely taking over during braking situations then it takes too long for torque/throttle demand to kick in. Is anyone here familiar with CAN bus communication?
4. The main reason I think it's ABS CAN bus traffic is because my daily driver a Dodge Promaster City, has this exact problem and it's much worse than my Titan XD. It's a gas engine 7 spd and with the braking then quick to throttle scenario it has a 5 second delay before it does anything. Dead pedal to the extreme!
5. Try not to bust my chops for owning a Nissan and not a RAM.

There is no way the BUS isn’t fast enough.

Sag2, my knowledge of CAN bus is limited but yes you would think 500kb/sec is fast enough. Are you a tuner?
I'm just trying to rationalize why the truck can give almost instantaneously response (but slow acceleration)from a constant drifting 25 mph but give 3 second delay when braking down from 45 mph to 25mph then hitting the throttle. The transmission torque management value should be the same in both scenarios correct? Do you know of anyone here in the forum that has or can do data logging?

I just took my 2014 2500 4x4 in to the dealer to try and deal with the shifting situation. I have the non Aisin auto and it feels like it lugs the engine too often and then when you step on the accelerator, it has to kick down first and then it allows the fueling...hence the delay. I drive in Tow/Haul a lot but I shouldn't have to. I also have the 3-4 rpm flare that grates on my nerves because I know it is slipping the TC. Why can't they just let it be crisp? My 06 had the auto with a low stall multi-disk TC and when I stepped on it...it responded. It did kick down but it didn't seem to delay noticeably. I guess we will see what the dealer says...I have Max Care and I I asked them to do all the latest flashes. I hope there is some change for the better and not making it worse.
I appreciate all your information you guys! It has saved my butt over the years as well as my wallet! :-laf

I have the 2017 3500/aisin and the dead pedal is horrible and unsafe in my opinion. I also threw SCR codes within 300miles and the dealer replaced the scr. Now at 3000 and the P229F and P20EE are back, can you believe it. I am starting to regret selling my 03.......

Last truck I had with a P20EE got traded in because the dealer couldn't fix it.........now my new truck has worse dead pedal than the one with P20EE..........What to do??? Chrysler has been in contact with me via email but nothing has transpired as far as a fix.
