Twins are on!!!

Phat Shaft 64/14 and Industrial Injection

Needed to replace the clutch hydraulics. Decided on the Southbend adjustable master/slave replacement.

Did the R&R. Now the point of engagement is when the pedal is almost all the way out. Have adjusted the pushrod to its shortest position, but need it to be a little shorter. (knew I should have got an OEM unit  - the original one was just right. ).

I tried cutting off some of the female part where the eyebolt connects to the pedal, but that wasnt the point of restriction, its the length of the pushrod that is too long.

Question: Can I remove the slave cylinder and shorten the pushrod about 1/4 inch, and still be able to re-install it without problems? Will there be a loss of fluid, or need to bleed air, or will it even go back on without problems?

Is this the best next approach?

Thanks in advance.

Youre probably right. . Better to make the adjustment at the master. Might be easier to have the extension piece that connects to the pedal shortened.

Follow-Up:

Southbend took care of me with their great customer service!

The solution was to use a 3/4" shorter rod from the master to the adjustable threaded coupler that connects to the pedal. The unit I got for my 2000 was a part number ending in 1. 5, but looks like the . 75 did the trick.

Thanks Southbend!!

p. s. (sure am glad I didn't buy an OEM unit :p )
