I have been looking at several different adjustable trac bars for 02. Some want you to buy a frame bracket & some don't mention it. Prices all seem to be in the same ballpark for the trac bar, but the bracket add a bit more to the price. There are some old posts that really didn't address my questions.

The two that interest me are from KORE & Thuren Fabrication. They don't mention needing a frame mounted bracket. The second part is I have already installed a Mag-Hytec diff cover on the front & would really like to keep it.

Has anybody installed the KORE or Thuren Fabrication bar with a Mag-Hytec cover on the front?

Thanks,

Troy

Troy, contact Don at Thuren, he'll let you know if it will clear. His does NOT need a bracket unless you plan on lifting your truck any higher than 3". Past 3" is a competely different Tracbar setup. Thurens 2nd gen bar uses a huge ball joint at the frame end that is virtually indestructable. Dons a great guy, you cant go wrong with his products!

Thanks for the replies. I am trying to avoid the 3rd Gen conversion if possible. That's what I liked about Thuren & KORE's trac bars. Will call when I get a chance - don't get around a phone much (graveyards) when people are open, that's why I was hoping someone had already used one or the other.

The frame bracket ones updates the track bar to the 3rd gen style which lasts longer.

Not necessarily, I have heard of guys having the same problem with the 3rd gen bushings wearing out just like the ball and socket we 2nd gens got. There is a reason why Don and others have already came out with new track bar designs for the 3rd gens as well.

I read somewhere that to check for clearance on the trac bar, you are supposed to put a spray can paint lid over the frame mount on the trac bar. Once this is done, how much clearance is needed?

I talked to KORE's Salt Lake City contact & they specialize in 3rd Gen Dodge's. They hadn't ever ordered 2nd Gen stuff before. Will try to call Thuren & KORE in the next few days and see what they say.
