tried the search for threads on this and did not get much, can anyone tell me how to adjust the TV cable, I think my shift points are to soon and could be part of my shifting problems.

The adjustment is a little confusing. Near the throttle end there is a black cubed shaped object. There is a bump on one side. This is NOT the button you press. It appears to be a spring housing for the button. The button is the flat place on the side opposite the bump. Use a 2" C-clamp to press and hold the button. Measure how much the pointed end of the cable housing protrudes from the black cube so you can put it back like it was if you have to. What you are adjusting is the length of the cable housing instead of the length of the cable. So if you make the housing longer that is in effect shorting the cable. I hope this makes sense.

Steve,

The trouble with that page of the manual is that it does not mention that the button is a flat place that is not exactly obvious that it's really a button. That was the problem I had in trying to adjust mine the first time I did it. You have to have tiny steel fingers to press it. :mad: Mine aren't that tough so I use a C-clamp. :{

Joe, I know what you mean:eek: , I tried using pliers and squeezing while adjusting, I'm not talented enough:D . I ended up using some small locking pliers and got it done.

I just figured a picture would help him to get an idea of what we're talking about. :)

Yeah, a picture helps a lot. Now, if we could convince the tech writers(?) who do the manuals to include the key stuff we would be in business. It would be nice if they included at least one picture that included all the mess that's in the way. :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thanks guys I adjusted it last night, the best I could tell it had about 1/4" to much slack. Now the shift points seem to be where they should and its not hesitating between shifts :D so I guess a big thanks is in order for all those who helped, Thanks Guys!

how much slack should there be in the tv cable, and how do you konw you should adjust it? i understand that it adjusts the shift points, but how do you konw if they are wrong, i mean do you check the points under light, normal or heavy acceleration? thanks josh

From what I know the TV cable can be set up too aggressively. Also, if there is slack that can be taken out, that doesn't mean that it is misadjusted.

I know this applies to a BOMBed transmission with increase line pressures, but it may not apply the same to a stocker?
