5th Wheel Hitch install on '05

I have found a 1997 2500 10. 6 model with the dry bath. It has electric jacks and a 2500 watt Onan lp generator. It also has the 3 way refer. What is it worth? What kind of mileage can I figure on with it? The ad says it has an upgraded 7345 series converter charger, what does that do for me? It was listed at $12,900. What things should I look at to ensure it is in good shape, e. g. any problem areas on the older Bigfoots?

Thanks for your assistance,

Del

Not sure what there worth used, but new it would be well over 20k. They are very nice campers and it sounds like it is set up nicely. I would as part of the sale have the camper checked out at a good rv repair shop familiar with Bigfoot.

The mileage for us drops 4-5 mpg with the camper. This can vary quite a bit depending on how hard you are pushing the extra wind. On one trip going through Nevada and Utah pushing 80 our mileage was around 11.

As a side note we used to put our 10. 6 on our SRW and the camper is a little heavy for the truck. (ours is striped w/o air, generator, electric jacks etc. ) We did do a couple of long trips with the 2500, but our dually makes a huge difference in driver pucker factor on the curves and in stout cross winds. You will at a minimum need to use a strong frame mounted tie down system, overloads or air bags and aftermarket shock

Hope everything works out for you,

Greg

No go

I wish to thank you for your assistance. We looked at just the outside of it yesterday and found it to be in need TLC. The gelcoat had lost its luster and all of the door seals were moldy and had some portion of them outside of their tracks. The interior trim around a skylight, that we could see from outside, was shot. I do not believe that the camper was very well taken care of.

I checked the NADA site for its value but I have yet to see any Bigfoot camper sell for as low as they said it was worth. I would not have paid what the NADA value is; the camper looked very tired to us.

Stay with a 10' or less with a SRW truck. I like Lance best, but they are pricey. Consider a S & S brand. They are well made and I think offer about the best value for the money. S & S is not a Lance, but they don't cost like a one either.

Campers are something a guy really needs to look over good.

We bought ours on Ebay, I told the guy when I made the bid, if it wasn't what he said it was, I wanted my money back, he said "no problem!"

Well long story short, it was MUCH BETTER than his description. We saved several thousand dollars over what the dealers wanted for the same thing.

Its just a thought if you are interested in buying, and saving a buck.
