Advice needed after FP gauge install

Installed my fuel pressure kit from Geno's today. Pressure is 11psi at idle and 8psi at WOT. I remoted the sender. All looks good except the brass fittings keep seeping fuel. I tightened and retightened to the point that any more will surely cause them to strip or crack. I avoided using teflon tape per the advice in this forum. Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop the leaking?

Teflon tape will work. DO NOT apply to the first two thread of the fitting. This will stop your leaking. Sam

Also used teflon tape, no leaks, and as DAWG said, no tape for the first two threads and you should be ok .

I agree with Sam, you need to use something on the threads, we all have our favorite. I've had great sucess with a product made by Master Plumber called TFE paste, you can get it at any hardware/plumbing supply store. I have yet to see so much as a dribble from any fitting, NPT or -AN, that i used this paste on. Works for me. Hope this helps.

Use the right tape

They make a special teflon tape that is rated for fuel (kerosene, propane, gasoline... ) You can get it at Home Depot. Don't use the garden variety tape.

Did you get the Westach setup? If so, why did you remote mount the sender? I have a Westach setup and used no tape without any leaks.

Had a pneumatics shop make up a 3' length of fuel hose with 1/8" fittings on the end. Ran the hose from the modified Banjo bolt on the VP44 to up above the fender, just behind the power distribution/cb box and tie wraped it to a fitting there. I didn't use teflon tape, just left the threads bare, and no leaks, so far, after 2K miles... .

http://www.gsasupplyco.com/ Go here, this is the pipe dope that they use when constructing gas/fuel stations. I use it in my shop for gasolene fittings now, I had to ask a professional while he was repairing the gas pumps.

This should help everyone who is looking to safely seal fuel fittings of any kind. ED

He has a 98. 5. You can mount the sender directly to the ports on the fuel filter. That's what I did.

I initially put my sender directly on the VP44 inlet. Within 100 miles the gauge started reading erradically and actually went to zero. That's when I decided to get the extension hose and remote it off the engine...

I remoted the sender for the same reason RJOL did, to isolate it from excess engine vibrations. I'm on the way to pick up some of the fuel rated teflon tape.

I have my fuel pressure senders, pre& post filter, mounted on the master brake cylinder housing and they have been ok for 15k miles. I had my lift pump replaced at a Cummins dealer 3weeks ago with about 47k miles on it. When I picked my truck up I had 0 pressure from both senders. The mechanic said it was probably my wiring. After installing a test gauge in the fuel filter port,0 PSI, he found the connector was not fully plugged in. Now lets see, if I didn't have that gauge---------------
