Ok,

So the 04. 5 has the dreaded vibration, I can absolutly not take it anymore, have had it in 6 times on this issue, they cannot fix it.

I dont want the truck, so I head to the dealer today to see what they will do to help with a buyback... . they say they will take care of me, as this is my 3rd purchase from them. . so I trust them... when its all said and done thier taking care of me is to sell me a truck that lists for 40,850 for 38,800 and supposedly pay off the old one for 33k, the same which I owe.

I think im getting screwed, again.

My question, should I go ahead and persue lemon law, or a DC buy back, or just live with this piece of #$%?

Has it gone to the same dealer all six times? If so, I'd try another dealer. Sort of a give it one last shot deal. You can always get rid of it. You might just get lucky and get it fixed. Also, there are several threads on here where guys have come up with different solutions that seem to work. You might search them and try some of the fixes. If you trade out of that truck with all the stuff you have on it you're losing your shirt. I wish you the best whatever you decide.

Before you get going on a buyback, has the dealer removed the front drive line? Doing so should eliminate the vibration on most trucks. From there, it is fairly easy to diagnose. It is related to shaft runout and balance. If it does not go away, it can be a bit tougher to pin down the cause.

They have had the front and rear out, trued and balanced, rear one twice. Road force balanced the tires, removed some clip on the rotors... tried three different sets of tires and rims, nothing helps, infact its getting worse. They would not even admit there was a vibration till the last time I took it in.

The truck right now is sitting in my drive stripped back to stock, except the shocks and dd transmission pan.

Going to get real ugly tomorrow with the dealer...

Dodge dealers can and should give you 1 percent below invoice. I have gotten this price with my last 3 trucks. You should be paying about $5500 under sticker without additional factory rebates, you could get up to $8000 off with rebates. Work with them to get the 1 percent below with rebates, IT CAN BE DONE! Also if you **** them off and go lemon law "which is your right" they could screw you on the price of your replacement truck. Remind them of all the surveys that get sent to you as well, bad feedback cuts into their budget. Are they a five star dealer? if so you got them by the balls, they live by those surveys and nobody likes eating lemmons.

the dreaded vibration in my 03 was found 1800 miles from home in Jackson Hole, WY. it turned out to be the front u-joint in the rear driveline (found by a none chyrsler dealer) upon inspection it was found that one leg of the u-joint cross had no sign of lubricant what so ever, the other side of the joint looked fine and was well lubricated. since that time i have replaced the rear u-joint, which displayed the same condition. from looking at the front u-joint it is displaying the same symtoms with a reddish rust color coming from one of the cross's. i am taking it to dodge this week to have that looked at and the leakage coming from the output shaft on the transfer case (i assume that would have been caused by the vibration form the u-joints. any way if they have not disasymbled the u-joints they might want to look at them

I assume you get the TDR magazine. Did you read page 48 in Issue 45. There are a lot of different solutions. Have a great day.

Mike

Well were headed to Lemon Law.

Nope didnt get the last TDR magazine. I should not have to raise a wrench to have a truck that does not cause driver fatigue ect... .

Its DC's problem, and im not willing to put up with it anymore.

Thanks to all for thier input!!!
