HI Guys,

Have moved from 93 1 ton dually with 410's to 2004. 5 1 t\ton with 3. 73's 4x. What I read is starting to scare me about the newer trucks. with my 93 I put a . low stall tc in it at 18,000 kms ,a temperature sender in the trany oil pan, boost guage and egt guage aI also put an inline oil cooler for the transmission and have pulled my 30 ft trailer for over 330,000 kms with only having to replace a the Bosch pump and other normal maintence. We now plan on towing a new 5er -34 foot with the 2005 dodge.

I don't really want to make any modifications to the engine. What other things can I do to assist the transmission on this new truck.

Any help would be appreciated.

a nice tc and valve body would be nice for ya and really make the trans shift and perform better maybe a lock up switch mod i am happy with my suncoast but there are many good companies and lots of forms about pros and cons of each

by the way welcome i am pretty new myself and found this site to be great i actually have to limit my time on here as i would spend hours if not

Don't believe everything you read, some just play harder than others. :-laf

With the weight you are grossing I would definitely call Dave Goerend and invest in a TC and possibly a VB. The stock units are pretty sloppy, about like the 518 with twice the power.

Add a trans temp gauge in the front cooler line, not the pan or pressure port, and a double deep pan for extra capacity and enjoy.

I have worn out a 518 and pretty much the same for a 47RH in my 92 and the 48RE, even with its short comings, is a much better transmission. Keep it cool, change the fluid every 20k and it should give good service.

Welcome to the site and ask away if you have questions. :)

I've got a 2005 2500 4X4 and just changed my Transmission fluid and filter and added a deep transmission pan I was wondering how critical it is to have the bands adjusted after doing this, I have 30,000 miles on my truck. I don't pull a heavy load mostly just drive around town with a highway trip about twice a month. When is it necessary to have the bands adjusted, I have a

48RE transmission... .
