I'm looking at at used 06 5.9 3500 with 48re and has 51k. Extremely clean truck inside and out. One owner and seems we'll take care of. He's asking 38k. Does this seem to be a fair price for a truck that's 11 years old. What issues besides the transmission should I expected to fail. I'd rather have used truck with pre emssions than to spend 70k on a new truck with emissions. Your thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.

Approx 350K on our 04.5 original 48re. No worries there unless it has been abused.

Some '06's were know for instrument cluster issues. Blend door issues are also common for all 3rd gens of that era.

If that truck has been going up and down the hill to Big Bear it's going to have some wear in it.Be sure to check for any signs of rodent damage as well,11 years of sitting in that environment makes for a nice home for rodents.

My '06 trans is doing just fine at 135K with light power mods (Smarty Jr initially, now Smarty UDC). A lot of my miles are towing my travel trailer through the CO mountains and I have had no issues so far. I am starting to get an occasional false reading from the tach, but I don't care as I monitor RPMs via my UltraGauge. No blend door issues so far. No real complaints at all. I had to replace my injectors at around 113K but I honestly thing that was due to repair shop error installing my GDP Air Boss, but who knows.

if it's been taken care of, and isn't infested with mice, then i'd get a new fuel filters on it ASAP, and even an aftermarket filter kit. it'll be a good truck. likely on of the best ones you'll own. All trucks have issues, all makes. it's if you can deal with said issues.
If you have growing kids, the back seat gets small fast.

Bob 4x4 are you familiar with this truck? This truck has not been a daily driver just had to pull his 5th wheel. As far as I'm aware it was not used to go up and down the hill. I didt see any signs of rodent's when I looked underneath the truck or in the engine bay.

Man that is a lovely lady your looking at. It also has everything on it that I would install. Probably so high because of all the goodies, mileage, and un-molested? I'm the first owner of my '06. The heater blend door was a recall and mine was done in 2010 when we lived in Washington State. Would have been $2300 (then) if my warranty was expired. I'd make sure all the steering and ball joints are good, my eng oil pan has rusted through since we been back home (Pittsburgh road salt). Had a SB dual disc installed but that was because of my Bully Dog downloader. My driver's door is sagging, and I been through an a/c rebuild. I've also been through a TIPM module, they don't have to be flashed if you buy the Dorman plug and play. Driver's door is sagging I'll be adjusting it soon. Personally I wouldn't pay that much 51K or not but it will pull like a bear, mine still does. And I'm with you on the pre DPF, I'll never own one.
