Advice on Yokohama, or other mud tires

I'm looking to get tires within the next couple of months and had my mind set on the BFG M/T's, but I like how the Yokohama Geolander M/T looks. The only size that I am considering in the Yokohama's is the 285/75. Does anyone have any experience with these tires?

I'm not set on any tire right now, and am considering opinions on any mud/aggressive tread tire in the 285/75, 305/70, 33/12. 5 size range. Mud is about the only traction inhibiting factor down here. No snow or ice to speak of. Maybe a little sand at the beach.

Thanks

They are a directional tread mattern so this will limit your tire rotation flexibility. Also I do not know what ply tire they are but their load rating isn't to great. I would guess they would not hold up tp well on a Cummins, but that is just a guess.

BTW - Yokohama's new website is great compared to their old one. www.yokohamatire.com

They looked good, but...

only lasted 40k. I had the 315's. They're not available in e-rangeand you can only rotate them front to back because they're directional.

IMHO I don't think 40k is too bad for that aggressive of a tire and giving the limitations on rotation. That's much better than I would expect.

Thanks for the replies.

RKohn, your picture in the off-roading forum is why I started kooing at these. :) They look too cool. 40k is better than I've see elsewhere.

I found out that they are rated at a little over 2200 lbs. and a C load rating, so I think I'll pass on the Yokohama's. At one site I found a lot of comments on these and most people complained about the short life they were getting, even with vehicles that weigh half that of my truck. Other than that, they generally liked them.

Any other tires that I should keep an eye out for? I keep up with alot of the major ones (Super Swamper, Gumbo Mudders, Bridgestone Dueler M/T, Dunlop Mud Rover, etc. ) but don't have any real world experience with anything other than BFG M/T's. I'll probably stick with these proven tires and I like them heck out of them unless someone brings up some other option. I'm just thinking of trying something different.
