Hello all, time to get an intake system, had an Afe when the Pro-Guard filter came out, liked it, also had a Scotty for a while, liked it... but... time for a new one.

... I know, I know... I have Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorder, so it doesn't matter if what I already have is perfectly fine, when I want something new, it's futile to try and talk myself out of it.

So...

Does anyone have experience with the XDI, Brute Force, and the Icebox that Diesel Power Products sells?

I know the PSM route is cheaper, but I hate the look of the stock box.

I'd NEVER choose form over function... but I'd like both ;)

Thanks!

I came from AFE and purchased an ICEBOX when they first came out. Construction, fit and finish is great!! Box is handmade and made here in the good ol USA. PM me if you have questions!!

I had an AFE stage1, wish I would have went with their new MegaCannon w/dry filter.

I chose an AEM Workhorse, which is the same as their new Brute Force HD. The filter box is "engineeredless"(sp), the tubing is thin wall and less than 4" ID. It looks nice, but the great big honking filter, all but eliminated my turbo whine?, That is why I have an Amsoil 4510. I would not buy again.

The Icebox looks first class, and I believe in it's concept.

My vote still goes to the new AFE MegaCannon.

Just my opinion, Jess

I have the Ice Box, got mine when they first came out. I have a little hood interference, nothing that I cannot live with, but it hits where the light is mounted.

I have the Amsoil nano, GREAT filter, I also got an outerwears for it. I live in a VERY dusty climate so the outerwears is a must. Also, you will get a little moisture headed that way when driving in a hard rain or some ice buildup when it freezing rain/snows. The Outerwears is water repellant and the freezing stuff just knocks off easy, doesn't cover the entire filter and fill up the box, just a little ice buildup on the one side. Otherwise, it is doing a good job, truck breathes better and my silicone levels are all but extinct with the Amsoil filter/Outerwears combo.

If I had it to do over again I'd probably just do a nicely installed BHAF. I was looking for something attractive and functional as well.

For the $$$ it's the BHAF, by far the cheapest. The filter and outerwears prefilter were about $85 together. For simplicity, I like the AEM Bruteforce ($185 on ebay)
I looked at all the products and their costs, and the AFE was VERY VERY expensive compared to all the others.

Right now I have the AEM Bruteforce tube with an Amsoil filter and prefilter on it.

Cheers
Mike

The ICEBOX is a great intake. I have one on my '02 and run the AMSOIL Nanofiber filter that comes with it. It flows great, looks great, and is super easy to clean. No wet washing, no oiling. To clean the Nanofiber filters, just blow out with compressed air and throw it back on. There are also some new AMSOIL/Nanofiber intakes out from Injen that you could look at for 3rd gen 5. 9 trucks, link here to the AMSOIL Corporate site: Injen Nanofiber intakes
