My girlfriend is looking into getting an Aerocover for her truck.

Seems like a useful product. Removable panels in case you have something higher than the bed to load. Lockable. and Semi-water resistant. She finds this to be good for her but we were looking for any feedback.

She doesn't think the hard tonneau covers will work well for her because to tilt the cover up. she can't reach ;) (she's 5'1) The only problem I see with the Aerocover is the locks icing up :(

Any comments?

My friend has a Fold-A-Cover (very similar) and he is very happy with it.

I just recently was searching for a easy access bed cover. I looked at the Roll-N-Lock, too expensive, and the Fold-A-Cover, also too expensive, plus I prefer the look of the soft tonneau. I decided upon the Truxedo tonneau cover. Click on "Truxedo" in my signature, maybe that will suit her needs?

I have had 3 trucks so far. I have put Protecto Tops on all of them. I think they are now in Santa Clara, CA.

The Aero looks nicer in some aspects.

The Protecto is a 1 piece re-enforced fibreglass that hinges near the cab. It has springs to counter its weight. It weight ~80#'s and takes 2 people to handle (on/off). I have done it by myself but it is a pain. It is weather tight. I have yet to get any rain in the back. I did have one blow off. I was in a really bad pacific storm and the winds were well over 75MPH. I was up on a exposed section of highway and the wind got under it and popped the locks. I figured out what had happened and on my latest had them change the placement of the locks and have never had a problem since. They are nice people to deal with and have been in business for many years (>25). The tops typically only come in 2 colors: white and black.

Ah the inevitable product search.

Cooker has a premium <a href=http://www.truxedo.com target=_blank>Truxedo</a>. The same company also has economy model <a href=http://www.truckhyde.com target=_blank>TruckHyde</a>.

The most popular brand around here is <a href=http://www.accesscover.com/Products/Access. asp?section=covers target=_blank>Access</a>. The same company has economy model <a href=http://www.literider.com/Products/LightRider. asp target=_blank>LiteRider</a> which is also sold through <a href=http://www.genosgarage.com/ target=_blank>Geno's Garage. </a>

Fiberglas tonneaus look nice, but limit bed usage.

Rollup covers are great, but winter performance is a concern.

Each model &amp; type is good. Pick the one with features you prefer.

I have one on my 96 2500. I think it works pretty good but it was not cheap. The panels seal preatty good in most wet conditions and I can remove it myself when I need to which is often. I have a few cracks in the back panel on the lip that covers the tailgate. I have also noticed some wear in the hinges but no cracks. You cannot stand on them, but they can be painted. I like the black color so mine is they way it came black. I think anything that covers the bed helps with highway driving but I am not sure they are better than the soft cover in that respect. The panels are lockable and each panel has a support rod that will hold it open. On the long bed the front and rear panels open from the rear the middle panel opens from the front and can only be opened after the front panel is raised. Hope this helps.
