that is the clamp/hanger that came with the kit. this is on the psd pipe just before the muff I hope that is what you are looking at.

Mark,

I think what you are talking about is the new section of 4" pipe (shiney) that was added because the Aeroturbine is shorter than the stock muffler

We have found the Aeroturbine to be very effective for eliminating the drone when used with a straight through muffler or as a replacement muffler.

Catcracker, Whistle is audible out of the pipe at idle and during acceleration, you can hear it more on a reverb off of a building than just going down the road. I love the whistle sound, too, and it is not as evident as I had hoped, but I think it has to do with the turbo and the housing. A new (Bigger) turbo would sound off a lot more I'm sure. Someone more learned than I on turbos could probably answer better. Everyone that has heard it really likes the sound. (Except my wife) Closest sound I've heard is a big JD, 4850 or so in road gear, or dropping a bottom plow.

Car nut, does it matter if the Aeroturbine goes before or after the straight thru to kill the drone? Also, what is the price of the thing , could not seem to find it at your site? Mark

Is the 2100 DRONE caused by EXHAUST or???Its very loud in mine!Would really like to GET RID of it. Was told by D. C. it was from turbo. Really would like some info.

aero sounds like the way to go. right now with out the ring stock exhast i cant hear any very little turbo out of the pipe *at idle. now when i am getting on it she screams.

I can't tell you if the drone is caused by the exhaust, but it sure seems to show up with a straight through muffler or straight pipe in the 4" systems. We have seen the Aeroturbine reduce this drone dramatically when added to a 4" system or used to replace a straight through muffler.

There is no Drone with the setup of the PSD pipe and Aeroturbine muff. Believe me I was just as worried as you about the drone. Call Dave at Diesel Power Products

I guess most of us have to learn things the hard way. As it turns out not all the 2003-2004 Cummins have the same exhaust pipe configuration. On the trucks made in Mexico the first intermediate pipe is straight and the second pipe has the bend near the muffler. Both these pipes appear to be the same pipes as non-Mexico trucks, but located differently which makes installing the Ford pipe kit with Aeroturbine a much bigger job and one that should probably be done by a muffler shop rather than in the driveway.

To resolve the installation issues for all 2003-2004 Cummins we have developed a more comprehensive kit that includes a new 4" down pipe and all new 4" pipe, but still reuses the stock 4" tail pipe and hanger. This should make the installation much easier as no dealing with factory crimped connections. We have a picture of this kit on our site near the bottom of the page http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/exhaust2

Also we have a couple of guys using resonator tips on their exhaust and Turbo Air Guides (TAG) for the intake. Some say the resonator tips mellow the exhaust sound, personally I cannot hear the difference. The TAG gives quicker turbo spool up and does effect exhaust sound slightly in positive way.

Car_Nut57 and I installed the 4" kit mentioned above on my truck last week and, so far, I am pretty happy with it. No drone as far as I am concerned. It can be a little loud but I just take this as a sign that I am using to much go pedal. :D Have seen a slight increase in MPG but not much decrease in EGT. Maybe 50* or so. Haven't had a chance to tow with it yet either. I think that will be a better test. I am also completely stock other than the exhaust.

Very easy to install too.

I have the kit and have decided against using it. If anyone in our area wants it let me know... ... ... ... ... ...
