I have been running my housing full forward with the starwheel pretty tight. Thought today I would try to get rid of some of the low end smoke. Moved the housing all the way back and went for a test drive. Would not get out of it's own way! Did get rid of the smoke though. Put it back to almost where it was and it is alive again.

Think now I will back off the wheel a few clicks at a time and see what it does.

Did not realize moving the housing would cut off low end fueling that much.

Still learning, even at 65!!

Keep on tinkering you will get it just the way you want it. Then the bug will bite again and next thing you know injectors are being pulled, turbos being swapped, hey ya only live once!:)

There is an adjustment screw at the very back of the afc housing (under that little cap if it's still there) that will let you set the initial position of the afc foot for low boost fueling and then the starwheel/spring adjustments can be made to control the afc progressively as boost comes on. I have my afc all the way back and then make adjustments this way. I ride around with a 10mm wrench and allen to make the adjustments on the road. My afc is modded heavily to allow plenty of travel though. It's worth the effort if you're looking to clean it up any. I can drive around town with almost no smoke from the pipe at all. The afc is a great tuning tool for a daily driver.

moving the housing is the biggest impact on pre-boost fueling. you can fine tune it with the allen set screw on the back of the housing

I have mine in about two turns. what do you recommend? on this set screw. The plate is almost full forward, the housing is full forward. Stock fuel plate to save the clutch. I have a #5, but not installed.

That is one adjustment I have not touched. I am running a #10, DDP II's, and a Super B, timing etc. , and am pleased at how well it tows. I can control the smoke with the right foot, but will take your advice and make some adjustments on this screw.

Thanks

with the housing full forward, you'll have tons of bottom end smoke no matter what you do with it... it's a fine tuning adjustment
