I've heard of people gutting the afc housing. Is it a better idea to buy a spring kit for it or just gut it?

Gutting it makes it useless which means ultimate low boost fueling which means ultimate smoke @ low boost. The aftermarket springs are to increase the resistance in the AFC and decrease low boost fueling. Hense, lowering low boost smoke. I would recommend just tightening your factory AFC spring if your having a problem with smoke.

An AFC spring kit allows the AFC to pull back faster but yet allow for pre-boost smoke control. I can't imagine what it would be like to follow you with a gutted AFC on a truck with 370's and a 0 plate! Probably need an oxygen mask... . The spring kit is something like $35. 00 and comes with 2 springs (light and med tension). Light spring will still give you smoke control and move away from the lever quickly.

I havent gutted mine but alot of people localy have. I cranked my star wheel i believe full forward or whichever way towards the engine takes it, but it fuels full at low boost. So yes its like a charcoal factory behind me when i lay into it, dont know if it would help to back it up a bit or not. I am running a B-1 so i need some fuel down low to help get it spooled. Just looking for some ideas to get quickest spool and most hp. thanks,

Lance

Quite driveable actually..... I had my rackstop out... . I think its back in right now I'm not quite sure. :-laf I have something resembling a Zero plate and PDR 370's and had the rackstop out for quite a while and the smoke was controllable... . you learn to drive it and its not hard. ;) I'm pretty sure my rackstop is back in now... but I could be wrong but I have to lay into it pretty hard for my truck to lay down a cloud and not just a slight haze.

Now with ADP Laser Cut DV's..... it was SMOKE on demand! Oo. :-laf But still driveable and you could drive the truck without fogging the road. I can't wait till I can afford a ADP Lil '55 so I can put my Laser Cut's back in... ... I had to go back to 181's because boost #'s were too high (50! ) on my stock charger. :(

I can tell you here from experience that with 370's, and some cut Dv's with JR's 55 and and auto you have to learn to drive the truck all over. You don't want to pull out in front of someone and have to take off fast because you're painting the sky big-time and stopping traffic. LOL Oo.

What is the removal of the rack stop all about???? I've never heard of that. I'm assuming you get more fueling? So what is the best setup to do with the afc? Dont gut it and adjust it to full fuel?

It guts the AFC housing making it non-functional. Allows ultimate fueling at low/no boost. There is no "best adjustment" just wherever you want it set at. ;)
