I was looking in a Truck Magizine of some sort the other day and came across an ad for AFe intake and filters for a Ford PS. The ad claimed 25+ Hp and 35+lb tq. Are they that good or are the stock set up's on Fords that bad? Has anyone tried one on their Dodge CTD and or Dynoed one? Any mileage increases?

I have one - mainly for EGT reduction - installed everything TST 1st so I cant be sure of HP gains etc... But I did get approx. 200 degrees of temp reductions

*and a little more boost

Why does the AFE II cost so much ! Do you think it would pay for it's self ?

From what I have read and found out myself with other filter systems, I feel the AFE is the best out there. Best for my truck, my performance and what I want for my engine. I think it offers the best filtering to be found.

I am not saying that others are not as good, just what I have experienced so far. So whats that worth? Priceless..... if your confident nothing is getting past the filter and the whole systems makes the truck run better.

It is one of those I want the best for my truck things. We all associate higher price with better sometimes. In the case of the AFE air intakes, I have had two Stage I with Torque Tube and new Stage II. It is as good a quality, fit and function as I have seen. The Pro-Guard 7 filter at least on paper is one of the best, although I have not done any oil samples. I probably should so I would be able to prove it to myself.

It is like "did you buy the cheap 32" TV or the nice Sony 32" TV for $150 more". Not really necessary to watch tv, but just seems like a better long term buy. I am happy with my AFE Stage II, Pro-Guard 7 and pre-filter. And the price I paid was not that much more than the other full kits.
