Afe cold air intake

Anybody running an AFE cold air intake??? And has taken out the silencer ring from turbo just using the cold air intake you can hear the turbo clear as day

I am hoping it helps with mpg. Edge juice and attitude are next.

Also I can hear what I can only explain as the wastegate popping open when the exhaust brake is engaged can anbody else hear this and is it the wastegate opening or somthing else.
