aFe filter cleaning

This question may have been asked previously, if so... sorry for the repetition.



Its time to clean the aFe Mega Cannon air filter and was wondering if it is necessary to purchase the aFe cleaner and oil or is it the same as the K&N stuff?

I wonder if they come out of the same factory and only the labels are different. They sure look similar.

I bought the K&N stuff cuz it was available at the local parts store. Works just fine. I doubt there is much difference between the two.

I actually have both the K&N 0880 and AFE air filters. I just cleaned my AFE last weekend after spending 4th of July weekend visiting my folks in the Mojave desert and doing a little off-roading. It got a tad bit dusty and bug filled...



I used K&N cleaner and oil, haven't re-installed the AFE as yet, but I can't imagine there would be all that much difference.
