AFE filter question

just got my AFE stage 2 in the mail today. I'm gonna install it tomorrow. Taking a quick look in the box at the filter was just wondering if the filter comes pre-oiled and "ready to run"? It seemed kinda dry compared to the k&n's I've run on other vehicles. Any info is much appreciated.

Mine came pre-oiled. I assume that you purchased the pro-guard 7 filter, right? - it is pre-oiled.

Thanks for the replies. I installed the kit yesterday, sounds good, not too much turbo noise, but then again its tough to hear anything over the exhaust :-laf .

I just read in 4 Wheel & Off Road that the new AFE filters will no longer require oil.

Just cleaned and reoiled mine last week. Seemed to clean and oil with no issues. Whats NOT "best" with their kits?

Do you have any drone at all with your cool duals? Do you have a short bed or long bed? I've been looking into getting that same system for my rig

K&N cleaner is far superior to the aFe cleaner.

My AFE cleaner worked just fine. Sprayed,let soak and rinsed like instructions. Came clean as new. Air dried for a few hours and reoiled.

I have a short bed. Only time I hear a slight drone is while cruising in high gear and the RPM's drop below 1400, its usually only for a few seconds before the trans downshifts. My cruise RPM never excedes 2000 RPM. Outside of that I really like the exhaust. Its a little loud, constantly setting off car alarms, but I cans still drive with the windows down and hold a conversation with the passengers.

Have you ever used K&N cleaner for a comparison? I've used both.

Years ago. Seemed it worked good too. Got some left over. I'll try it next time.

Yes Mike that helped a lot. I was reading that another member was having drone problems with their cool dools. I don't really care about volume when crusing or when it is hammered on, infact that is when I want it LOUD so that it turns heads and rumbles the ground. The only thing I don't want is drone.



If you want quiet, go buy a civic!!!
