AFE install on 04.5

Ordered one through Chris at Relentless Diesel down the road... I don't think i got a TT with it... one of my buddies has an extra.



First... I had read somewhere that the AFE doesn't fit in an 04. 5 without some mods. What do I need to do to fit it? I can'tfind it with the search function.



I also am curious as to whether the torque tube really makes much of a difference...

My drop-in AFE Pro Guard 7 arrived today. Dropped right in, go figure. It was a tight fit to get the airbox top back on however. I assume you're getting the Cold Air set-up with the tube.

aFe modified their setup for the 04. 5. They used my truck for the dimensions. If you order a 04. 5 kit, it will fit like a glove... .....

So AFE now has the kit available for 04. 5's? Has anyone with an 04. 5 got a kit recently that fits without any modifications? Haven't heard much about this change to their kit.

I put the AFE from my 03 into my 04. 5. I had to remove the hood insulation and relocate the underhood light

The Magnaflow muffler and cat delete I did today is awesome... I am amazed at what a huge difference it made.

Where did you get your Magnaflow? and what is that part #? I am looking into a straight thru muufler, either the Donaldson or Magnaflow and also putting an aeroturbine in place of the cat. Does the cat delete and Magnaflow have much drone inside the cab? Please keep me posted on the AFE install. Thanks.

the magnaflow was just a 4" muffler I got the ghetto shop to throw on it... I have no idea as to the part number. I have zero drone... When i get on the throttle and have RPM's over 2400 or so It roars. . . when I am driving down the road you can barely tell it's not stock. I just had them cut off my exhaust behind the muffler and in front of the cat... then they welded up a piece of 4" pipe and put the new magnaflow in... sounds really good... maybe not quite loud enough for me, but enough to let people know it's really a diesel.
