I see the scotty hole, is the intake noise as bad as the scotty air cleaner? Also, does the top edge seal against the sound proofing or just get close? I like it, it looks trick!

AFE Mega Cannon

I also have the AFE Mega Cannon. I love it. I have had several different filter setups. I of course started with stock. Then to a Fleetguard, K&N RE-0880, BHAF(NAPA 2790), and now the AFE. This thing is great, my EGT's are way down. At least 150-200 degrees from the BHAF. I used to be able to hit 1400 degrees in a matter of seconds, now I have a difficult time getting over 1200. It is definately a very high quality product.

I purchased mine from ADT. Andy and Doug have a great price on it and I believe they have them in stock. Give them a call, you won't be sorry.

:D

I like the looks of the AFE but since I already have the psychotty I think I'll save the money till I have to replace it. Then I'll probably go with the megacannon.

Can you put a different filter on this setup? I don't want to deal with a re-usable filter because I get into dusty areas and I don't want to keep washing the filter. Do you know if a 8" version of the BHAF will fit?

Thanks,

Charles

I have to agree with Patriot Diesel my EGT's have come down some what. And yes it is currently sealing against the the hood not sure if it matters weather it does or not since the sides are some what open, but its a great heat shield. it won't matter to much anyway I should have my cowl induction hood on this weekend. And yes I had the pyscotty so the 4 1/2" hole helps bring in more air plus I can still pull air in from the stock oval hole as well. I sold my pyscotty system and used that cash to compensate for the cost of the AFE. As far as using another filter not sure, if you send me some measurments of the 8" BHAF I can go out and see if it will fit for you.

What is the point of the filter minder on that? By the time a cotton/oil filter gets dirty enough to make that thing move, it is going to have deposits on it that are so big/ugly/nasty that you will want to throw it away and start over. Not bashing, I think it looks cool. Just a little confused ever a minor detail, that's all.

Prolly just for looks, mine never worked anyways. I could suck up a small child playing in the niehborhood and it still wouldn't move

Fleetguard has an 8" diameter fiberglass filter (AH19002; 470 cfm) but it doesn't flow near as much as the BHAF (Fleetguard AH19037; 687 cfm). Fleetguard 1752M flows 812 cfm @ 6" water but is 7. 8 x 24" long so not real practical.

Mr. Bob's Distributing has the AFE setup and a TDR special at $199 (list is $295). I got one from him, and dyno'ed it. It made about 4 hp more than no filter or anything on the turbo at all. That's darn good and the filter is high quality for its type. I still like a paper filter in high dust, but the AFE is tempting for those seeking max hp, or in lower dust environments. If the hood is opened up like mine (homemade cowl induction), cool air will get onto it and help even more in keeping egt down.

Love my AFE mega cannon, I haven't towed with it on yet, so I can't comment on EGT reduction but it sure sounds sweet and looks awesome!

AFE looks awesome

On my 02 3500 4x4 Dually- I want to improve on the K & N in the stock airbox- what is the consensus on this for use once in awhile on the beach- I surf fish with it in deep sand in NC- lots of wind- is that why folks like Volant keep a "box" concept balance the need for more air with some protection from the elements?
