I just installed my new AFE air intake system. It was easy to install and the fit was real nice. I'll try to attach a pic, but i've never done it before. If it doesn't show up you can see a pic in my gallery. Enjoy... #ad

Bought it from Piers and they gave me a discount for being a TDR member. The price was somewhere in the low $200 range -- $210 I think?? They also have the Proguard7 system if you prefer it... .

The Pro guard 7 has 7 elements (5 cotton, 2 synthetic). The "regular" filter has 4 cotton elements. the obvious is you will get more air flow with 4 elements than 7 giving you more power, and along with that you'll also get more dirt in your engine with the 4 element.

I have the pro guard 7 filter in my truck. I'll sacrifice the performance for better filtration and longer engine life.

Check my readers rigs for a pic of my old airaid system and my new AFe system.

I will admit that I am concerned about proper filtration with this kit I just installed. I had a difficult time deciding on whether or not to get the system with or without the ProGuard7. I've never done an oil analysis before, but I likely will now with this system to see if the level of dirt getting in is abnormal. I can always switch.

How does one go about getting an oil analysis???

From what Slybones was telling me the airflow penalty for going with the Proguard 7 is quite small. If anyone has CFM comparison data I'd be interested to see it.

Stephen as long as you don't live in a dusty or desert region you should be fine, but check your intake hose on occasion. I live in a desert so will likely go with Proguard 7. You can get sample kits from oilanalyzers.com and blackstone.com as well as from Cummins.
