Unless I hear negatives before tomorrow afternoon, I am going to pick up the following:

aFe Magnum Force Intake System w/Pro-Guard 7 filter Dodge Cummins 2004 5. 9L 325 HP/600 lb-ft H. O.

Torque Tube Kit (Stage 1 Upgrade) 2003-04 Dodge Cummins 5. 9L

Does any with a 600 have problems with this air intake system?

Thanks for any comments.

John

JVolpe, I have that system installed in my '03, H. O. I also, removed the silencer ring. The Torque Tube really enhances the turbo whistle. It's loud enough that when people are walking down the road, in front of you, they will turn around to see if an F-16 is coming down the road. It get's a lot of attention! I just got back from an 8063 mile trip with my trailer and most of the time I had the radio off with the windows down so I could hear the exhaust note and the turbo whistle. Some would think I'm nuts, but, for me, a quiet diesel is like having a Harley-Davison with quiet mufflers. If you feel like I do, you will like the Torque Tube. Otherwise, it may be too loud. Also, you could leave the silencer ring in. I don't know how loud that would be. Hope this helps. Another option is, buy the Torque Tube and if it's too loud, sell it and install the stock tube. Joe.

I have had my AFE for over a year now. Not a single issue. I've been thinking about the torque tube also. I don't remember on the '04's but did Dodge go with the 4" exhaust all the way back? If not, look at doing that next you will get a little more benefit from the AFE.

SVaquez,

Yes the 2004. 5 325/600 have 4" exhaust from turbo back, of course they also have a Monster Catalytic Converter in that 4" pipe, but still 4".

I am going to try the Air Intake without the Torque Tube first and then with it.

I will let you know what I think.

We have the AFE on our 2004. 5 and love it. I feel that there's less lag before the power comes on.

Only problem ist that the hood on the passenger side is about 1/4 or so high. The filter box is a bit too tall. I verified that I do have the 2004. 5 AFE kit installed. I was told AFE is aware of this and it would be fixed. You have to look to notice it, though, and there has been no problem with rain getting in.

03 aFe w/Pro-Guard

I have an 03 with same setup, started with the intake, then torque tube, added TAG, then just added HOG 4" last week. Haven't had the chance to tow with it yet but I have noticed a huge difference in the performance and mpg. Yesterday we got a bit of rain and I was coming onto the highway, going through the gear box, 5th gear she broke loosed at about 2,300 RPM NICE!!!! only have 25K on the tires and they are in good shape. .

Already have full synthetic through out the truck, now around town mpg is about 24-25mpg. Don't know what towing will bring haven't had the chance to use it since adding the HOG system but that made the biggest difference.

I had the same problem with mine. What I did was put some white lithium grease on the AFE seal and close the hood. This left a mark on the hood insulation that I then clearanced with a box-knife. Hood sits perfect now. :)

This was the first engine compartment mod I was looking at too. Are there any dealer/warranty sniveling issues? I'm at 2500 miles, and still like my blanket .

Mark,

Have they fixed the hood clearance issue as mentioned above? I am really thinking about getting one, but I don't want to have to modify my hood to install it. Thanks.

I picked up the aFe Magnum Force Stage II for 2004. 5 325/600 with standard filter & pre-filter today after work. I also got the Torque tube, I know that a piece of 5" PVC would do the job, but it wouldn't look purty.

From what the guys told me when I picked it up, the model for the 2004. 5 325/600 is a different box that fits only that hood/engine compartment configuration. I will see when I install it Saturday. If it does not fit right it will go back.

I also stopped by the Predator Power local dealer and now have a Stage II Predator module. for 2004. 5 325/600 Cummins.

I will put on the torque tube first and see what happens. Then I will install the Air Intake and filter. Then I hope that I have fun with the conservative Predator Stage II.

If I can make to the track this Sunday I will get times with intake and Predator to compare with stock. Will be brake launched to 20PSI and WOT, unless the EGT's are too high.

I have the torque tube and filter in my 04 and 04. 5. I have clearance problems in mine too. I'm very pleased with the setup though, does have more pick up with it in and sounds way cool.

check this out when you install your afe. My stock box with paper filter would pull the air reminder gage about 25% into the yellow. With the proguard 7 and afe box, I am seeing 75% into the yellow (almost to the red).

Doesn't make sense to me since the afe is supposed to be less restrictive. .
