Installed reflashed Edge Comp Box and a AFE pre-filter at the same time. Got HIGH EGT's now. Not sure which iz da culprit?

Took it off. Runs cooler maybe 100*. Filter is clean. Pro Guard, but I prefer my earlier version with the inverted cone at the end of the filter. Gonna try it pulling a load this weekend. Looks cool, cost a lot of $$, principal is there. Hate to use it as a trash bag inside the cab.

I had the original AFE you are talking about and it did breath better but thats because it is thinner with less media. After a little over a year of running it something went past it and took out the blades on my hx-40. I couldnt believe it but their was no doubt that thats what happened. I'd say leave the sock off when you dont need it like anytime youre on the street.

Wow!!

Reading this I'm amazed that those thin nylon pre filters would add up to that much restriction unless they were really caked with dirt. I've been trying to drop some EGT's, but don't want to compromise the filtering of my intake air. I got the pre filter on the theory that the AFE filter element would be subject to more dirt being more exposed than the factory airbox / filter arrangement. What do you think?

Thanks!
