I just bought the AFE 73-10102 drop in for my 06 2500 and can't seem to get the box closed on it again. The filter sets in place like the stock one but it seems its just too think for the cover to slide into the latches. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm waiting for AFE to call back and am hesitant to trimming the seal off to make it fit or slamming it in. For now the stock one slid back in and closed up with no problem.

Thanks

Brian

Don't trim it to fit. That may cause problems sealing it up inside the box and let too much trash get through. Plus if there is a problem, AFE will not accept it back like that. Don't worry, AFE will call you. They have great customer service and will get you taken care of.

Mine was hard to get the lid to close also, way harder than the stock unit, but if did close. Worked great. Good luck, Nick.

I too have the same problem with my 2003. It is very difficult to close the lid. I've had mine in there for three years now and it hasn't gotten any easier. I have the bottom of my airbox cut out so I crawl underneath to check the filter. Still have to open the box to clean. Me, I just figured it was a great seal. If not please let us know here!

Well, spoke to Mike at AFE and he tried putting it in a test box and it was a little hard, gave me the measurements to make sure its the correct thickness and it was and went out and tried again and finally got it closed.
