My air flow progression was I first added the TAG and immediately noticed a better performance on the spool up less smoke . A few months later I added the turbo back exhaust by Stans Headers in Auburn WA. Good system. Again noticed a better running engine performing better. I then went and cleaned the K&N and cut the side of the box out and this seemed to open it up even more. I made a 250 mile trip on a mix of level hwy and going through 100 miles of Mountain passes with up and down grades. I was traveling empty with a fifthwill tailgate. I filled it up to let some foam boil up. I got home and filled it again and got 23. 56 MPG. I am very happy with these results. I must add that I have a gearvendor and was trying to get good gas mileage. I go this route often and will be curious how the AFE will change the performance and MPG will post on this. My truck wight at 6000 lbs.

I may have to get a PG7. The area I curently reside in (though HOPEFULLY not much longer), I think, qualifies as a high dust/ agricultural app, due to the dust in the air. You can hardly ever see more than 2 mi in any direction (when trees arent blocking the view), and my allergies are definitley worse.

I had a new K&N filter sent to me for Mom's pickup last summer. I wasnt real impressed with the construction, but it was better than mine that was a year older. I pulled the ariboxes last week, and checked the inside of the intake hose, and found MORE dirt in there than with the filter we replaced. I will be getting, at the very least, a BHAF/ Outerwears to put in both our trucks, and possibly an aFe PG7 for mine when I get the money.

K&N is a ridiculous excuse for an air filter, IMO. Have had 3 of them that dont filter; I doubt it is just a fluke, at this point.

You are making a wise decision, particularly since turbo-charged diesels require eight times as much air as a gasser. Eight times as much air means eight times the number of particulates being sucked through or into the filter. So the filter media has to allow air through while at the same time preventing particulates from doing the same. Type and depth of media are critical and aFe's ProGuard 7 seems to be the way to go these days.
