I am in the middle of yet another upgrade. Working on getting larger injectors and a Cool Twist Turbo. First it's gotta breath. So I would like to kill the factory airbox and K&N. My question is, is Stage 2 worth the extra 200? If stage 2 is the way to go, does anyone know where to get them cheaper than 466? I know some people here use BHAF, but it seems like most are going with AFE. Any advice or suggestions accepted.

I have the stage 2. Only reason i bought it was a place in texas or oklahoma (city muffler and performance i think)... they are on ebay...

I stole it from them. I called for a quote, guy told me 320 shipped and i said stage two, he said ya. Well, i get it in the mail and the invoice said 325, CC bill comes and they charged 425, they finally corrected it after trying to give me a guilt trip. . Check ebay and you might find one for approx 400 shipped.

The stage 2 protects the filter a little bit better and looks nice but I was pist when i tried putting it on and the tube hit an external sensor on my alternator. Anyways, i went down to AFE and they tried fixing it, pretty shotty and i recommened they change the mold and put a dent in the tube---answer, too expensive. I ended up fixing it myself with some trimming but their customer service sucked basically in the end. The factory rubber tube is fine since it is smooth on the inside, go with stage 1 for the money and possibly fitment problem. .

Id say stage 1 with the pre-filter, I put a stage 2 on my buddy's 02 and the box rubbed the compressor lines so after a few swings of the hammer and a little finess it worked.

A quick question about the stage 2 is the plastic gets pretty warm right tight to the motor so therefore doesnt the air get warmed slightly? ... . kinda defeating the "cold air" motto... ?

i run a stage one afe intake... but see no difference between stage one and stage two afe intake systems other then the intake tube that runs from intake to turbo..... i got a good deal on mine, and have no complaints about my stage one. i ran a k&n drop in filter prior to my afe intake and will never use another k&n filter again.....

If you like turbo "noise", get the Stage 1 and be sure to get the filter with the filter media in the end (I think they're blue in color now). Then, drill a 4" hole in the cowl right in front of the filter. That plenum for the cowl pushes a lot of air. Get a pre-filter for extra dust protection, unless you drive in very heavy conditions in which case I'd get the Proguard 7.

I don't drive in dusty conditions, and by hand washing/drying the pre-filter once a year, my filter still looks new after over 150K.
