I have finally decided to go with an AFE Air intake and now I am trying to decide between the Stage 1 and Stage 2. Is it worth the extra money to go with the Stage 2? Is there that much performance to gain? I had a Stage 1 on my old truck and never really had any problems or complaints. I think I am only going to do an intake and exhaust for now.

I have had both on my 04. 5 600. Had Stage I and original metal Torque Tube for almost a year. Switched about a month ago to Stage II. I was able to get a good price on the Stage II w Pro-Guard 7 and a pre-filter so I made the switch. There is definitely more filter area on the Stage II filters. But I doubt if there is much measurable performance gain. You still wind up at the 4" turbo intake. It does change the sound of the turbo and engine, for the better I think. Both functioned well and I have no complaints about either. I just got "Filter Envy" when I saw one on truck sitting next to mine with both hoods up. If you search and find a price on the Stage II that is under a $100 more than Stage I, I would go Stage II. Just my . 02.

Stage II

Fetzer,

I just put a stage II on my 03. If you like to hear the turbo, you will like that kit. It's pretty loud... Make sure if you get one to use some hex head bolts when you fasten the lid. The kit comes with allen head fasteners that once tightened, I couldn't get them out. Had to get the dremel to cut them off! I used some regular bolts this time and it's easier to get the lid on and off.

P. S. Sis says your truck is nice, already put the juice in my sig, thanks! :D

Does the stage II use the same filter as the second gen stage II "race"? That filter is dimentionally about the same size as a third gen stage I but has a 6" inlet rather an 4".
