Afe stage 2 intake

I am going to purchase either the stage 1 or the stage 2 afe intake for my truck. I had heard that the stage 1 was loud, where as the stage 2 was about as quite as stock. Would like some feedback from people that have the systems... . thanks

I've never ran a Stage 1, but did run an open K&N cone style, basically identical to the Stage 1 AFE. I then went to a Scotty II... I don't wish that dam thing on my worst enemy. I now run an AFE S2 and it is sooooooooooooooooooo nice. There isn't noise unless I want there to be (ie, push the loud pedal hard), or unless I'm cruising at 80+MPH (common on freeway). Then it's just a slight whistle... nothing compared to the constant shriek that came from the Scotty.



Two things about the AFE S2... it's expensive, and it's ugly under the hood (big and pretty dumb looking). But after having the Scotty II it's such an improvement that it didn't matter.



And BTW, I had no change in EGT's going from cone K&N to Scotty II and same for Scotty II to AFE S2. I also run the Pro-Gaurd 7 filter in my S2. I also have a B-1-2 turbo that makes a lot of noise.

I have a stage one and Put a stage 2 on my buddys truck... . stage 2 was a bit of a pain to install and its pretty much a stage 1 with a ugly box around it. even with his silencer ring out its nowhere close to my big rig sounding turbo! but I coudlnt justify paying more $ for a box and ugly downtube (im not saying that the stock one is any better but ya know)

I put the Stage2 on today and am very dissapointed in the noise, What noise? it all went away, I had a ton more w/stage 1,

Im wondering which air intake that makes the most NOISE?

That is what im definately after...



What would happen if I took off the top cover? or even cut off the sides of the box?

HELP!!!
