afe stage 2 + turbo silencer

I dont know much about the trucks, im still learning.



Im looking at getting new air intake, I currently have a 05 with mbrp duals, 4 inch, without the cat, I cant hear the turbo anymore, I want to hear it :\



I was looking at the AFE stage 2, is it worth it ? What gains would i get, and is the turbo louder, too loud ? or should I go with something like K&N ?



I read guys talking about a turbo silencer... what is it ? how do I take it off ? will it be removed when i replace the intake ? whats it look like ?

From what I've heard, most people like the sound w/ the afe stage 2, but only some go all out and remove the silencer. I'ts just a plastic ring right before the turbo that smooths out the air to make it a little quieter. I would definitely get the afe stage 2, but you might wait and see if you want to take out the ring. I'd imagine that if you're doing a lot a highway driving you might want to keep the silencer ring in.

RMarkey is right get the Stage II and then see what you think, removing the silencer then is not big deal to do if it's not loud enough. Make sure you get the Pro Guard 7 system to protect your engine!

I heard you can leave the top off the afe2 also if you want a little more sound.

I tell you what, My stage 2 is Plenty Loud with the ring in and the lid on! About 3 times as loud as stock with ring removed. As far as if you need the stage 2 or not is up to you I have it and the MBRP 4" Cat back, and the Juice on 4 not towing I haven't seen EGT's over 1050. Towed a 3000 lb boat on 3 nothing over 1150. I really think the exhaust and CAI really help this.
