Afe Torque Tube

got one installed over weekend at sizzler event. wow it sounds like an f-15 taking off inside cab, that tells me stock setup very restrictive, dont know if im seeing things but my egts seemed to drop about 50-75 degrees at full throttle and steady driving. sounds very healthy. no turbo lag at all seems to spool up faster. put my volumizer on high and the truck just screamed smoking the tires, the tube made a difference.

I was considering some sort of replacement for the factory piping until I read a post from another TDR member stating he had heard of actual losses in power by removing the factory plumbing.



Would you say you felt a seat of the pants improvement or just more noise and lower EGT's?



Also, if anyone is using the geno's eliminator pipe (intake) and has information on performance gains/losses I would like to hear them.

i got the kit from bob4x4 pm him for pricing, and rosco definatly did not lose any power, truck actually feals more responsive,now genos only replaces the tube not the perforated hoses i think thats where the afe makes the difference. id go with afe cause they actually do flow tests with real numbers. thats my opinion.

I have been thinking of Geno's eliminator pipe/TAG combo. I sure would like to see some comparitive numbers.

I have the AFE PG7, and love it. I would also like to check out the torque tube. In the meantime, I have x-ed the silencer ring, and have cut the honeycomb out with an air chisel (basically turning it into the "MPC/geno's eliminator pipe"). After chisiling and x'ing, I could only tell a difference in sound. Not in power or EGT's. I would hope to realize some sort of gain with the torque tube. If nothing else, it looks pretty sweet... . Now if I could just feel safe about eliminating that cheezy looking heatshield from the manifold... .

Make your own out of 4" PVC use 2 couplers and aprox 6" of pipe. make sure the couplers and pipe are about the same length. , glue it together Presto . keep the old one for any doubts with dealer service.

I don't think the sewer pipe will give the same results in flow as the torque tube. The torque tube is mandrel bent and maintains the same id from turbo to filter,the flex connectors at both ends are also smooth with no convulutions. Less than 5 minutes and you will gain an additional 200 cfm of flow. The only question that remains... ... ..... do you have the extra fuel to enjoy it. Looks like Jake is lovin it. As stated in my previous post I already purchased the aFe Magnum Force with Pro7 filter and plan to add a 4" exhaust in the spring.



Now I understand the Torque Tube should lower my EGT's. However, will it add any further power benefit to my otherwise "stock" truck or would I be wasting money that could be put towards the exhaust?



I don't mean to sound redundant but I want to be sure of the "bang for my buck" I will be getting for this rather pricey intake tube.

hey rosco if your ever going to put a box on the truck,go for it,i still cant see how u can lose power with more air flow. like i said this was tested on a flow bench and its proven. one more thing,the tube that i got was the preproduction model so it is not on the market yet i dont think. i noticed other sites talking about that they cant find it anywhere thats why im posting this. thanks

By adding the AFE Mag Filter I noticed a great improvment over stock! My fuel mileage is up, egt's are down, and trottle response is much better. It really was noticeable when pulling my fiver. I owe it all to Dean Upton who talked me into it! I think he gets a kick back from afe... . lol

Adding more air to the turbo sounds nice! But won't you need to add more fuel as well to get the correct effect!

thats why i got the volumizer ,torque tube compliments it perfectly when switched on.
