On the 03's there is no overwhelming evidence to favor one system over the other. Don't forget, DD makes one too, that is a larger housing than the AFE, and works great.

Although a red housing could look nice with the Red valve cover.

I may have to re-powdercoat my DD housing.

Afe filter vs Sctty Air

I decided on the AFE intake system over the Scotty. I ordered it from STC in Santa Fe Springs California. I got it a little less than Geno's and I can pickup and save the shipping. They were the people that I bought mine X-Monitor from. One reason I decided on the AFE was because a friend of mine that works for DC said that they use AFE as a parts supplier. They often use his vehicle for doing some testing. As a result many of the AFE items are approved by DC.

For those that might not be aware, the Scotty 3 uses an AFE filter. It also draws only cold air and has a ram air port, which really helps throttle response at higher speeds. I found those to be major advantages.

Both are probably great units and will achieve the overall goal of more airflow and reduced egts.

Does the Scotty III now offer an AFE Pro-Guard 7 filter as an option? I spoke with Rod earlier this year and the RA III did not have the Pro-Guard filter in it.

My scotty3 doesn't have a proguard filter, although it does supposedly have twice the filtration area of the stock filter. I plan on doing an oil analysis once my truck is broken in, to see how it's doing. I'm sure it's fine. Everyone goes on and on about this filter and that, K&N's letting in dirt, blah blah blah. I've done oil analysis with amsoil foam, stock paper, and K&N filters, and the silicon readings were only off by 1 ever... . its all a bunch of marketing hype, the filters are all SO CLOSE it doesn't matter.

Info

I PM'd the individual on here that did not get his Ram Air III and have not yet got a reply.

I'm not keen on those kinds of delays and I do have this figured out now. I order the units more often with less quantity in each order. This started as of the start of 04. We also changed shipping companies as we lost at least 5% of our shipments last year.

Awhile back I was assured by a sales rep [Joseph] at aFe that we could in fact get the PRO Guard 7 filters for our systems once they are released. Unfortunately that gentleman is no longer with aFe and the folks at aFe will not be doing the PRO Guard 7 for the Scotty Air II or the RAM AIR 3.

I guess in a good way its nice to not be able to keep up to the orders but I'd rather get less units out there and not lose sales due to slow production because of high demand. I am trying to stock pile the units now.

I'd like to thank all of you that have purchased a Scotty Air Systems product over the past few years. Thank you for your belief in a product the SUCKS COOL AIR better then any other out there.

Was that just a bit biased?

Seriously, thanks for considering my product in this debate too.

Has anyone done a egt comparison between these two? I plan on running big bombs on mine id like an intake that will make the COOLEST air come in.

Thanks

I installed my new AFE intake system today. Took if for a test drive, notice that it appeared to have better throttle response. The true test will be when I get my trailer this weekend for a short trip to the dealer. It is a nice looking system and everything fits very well. So far I am pleased with my choice.
