After the vacation pulling the jeep to buena vista colorado the getrag is buzzing alittle in 5th now :(

Gotta decide whether to pull it and repair or swap. I really don't want to spend all the cash on an NV conversion so it will probably be a rebuild. Figure it is much better to get it done now than once it gets worse.

The shifter just rattles alittle and it makes some howling at certain rpms in 4th and 5th.

Where is the best place to get parts for these things?

Oh, one more Q. I figure it is altitude related but when leaving CO saturday morning the truck was idling rough and would barely rev up. . smoking and poping out the tailpipe when I tried. Had me worried I was gonna be stuck. After it idled a few minutes it cleared up though

Sounds like a little water may have gone thru the system. Does the water in fuel sensor work? When did you last drain the filter and does the filter need to be changed? Could have been a little air also.

How cold was it outside? Mine would do that when the temps dropped to the 40's or less - turned out to be a bad temperature sensor that controls the KSB solenoid.

Changed the fuel filter in December. Was not very cold this past week, hot actually.

I pulled the water drain on the filter and it all seemed like fuel to me.

Now back to the getrag... . :) I have a local guy who I found that has rebuilt several. . he is kinda slow sometimes though, but he works cheap.
