After a couple incidents with the new 16 TD 2500 I'm beginning to think there is a bullseye on this truck, both in a one week span and involving people on phones. I think I need an upgrade to a louder air horn, a train 3 or 5 chime would be great but I don't want to spend that kind of money plus the tanks compressor etc. Anybody have any brand suggestions, Have been looking at hornblasters, But the location of the air tank and compressor plus horns in dry locations seems it might be a problem.
Has anybody put something like this on their truck and were did you put it?

I've got five of them mounted under the box at the front of the box. The tops of them are basically against the underside of the box facing down. They've been there for 2.5 years now in and through our Alberta winters and no problems yet. They are very loud and allot of fun. They are good for convincing critters to get off the road. I have on one occasion cause a guy in front of me to drop his phone that I could clearly see him holding up against the top of the steering wheel from behind and driving 10 under the limit holding up traffic and weaving all over the place.:D
For the purpose that you are intending it for, put a foot switch on the floor where the high beam switches used to be so that it's easy to hit while driving without using your hands. Sometimes I have my foot right beside it ready to hit if I'm in traffic where it might be needed.
It's fun watching people jump at random as well!! I've seem the kids friends do the funky chicken dance more than once!Oo.
In my case I have a dually and I had the room to put a 5 gal. tank ahead of the rear wheels up into the fender. You should have room for a 2.5 gal tank in that area. If you do it run an air line into the box with a chuck on it so you can fill up tires etc. when needed.
I have an aluminum cover that covers the compressor but it's open on the underside for air flow. the controls are for my air bags. This is mounted on the front passenger side box wall.
This is overkill for what you are looking for, but just Ideas. I don't have any pictures of the tanks and horns on the underside for you.

Your set up is what I was sort of figuring on having to do. will have to spend some time on my back under the truck getting the lay of the land since it is a new truck and only have been under the engine installing the the bumper cold start plug . Thanks again for the info.

I have an engine driving compressor (York 209SC) with a 5 gallon tank under the right front corner of the bed. I have the 4 trumpet set from Hornblaster, 2 under the driver's and passenger's seat area outside of the frame rails.

Words of caution: If you cause someone to crash because the air horns scared them, you could be held liable.
