I'm waiting for my DOR bumper to arrive. I was going to put the KC 801 lights on for increased visibility, specifically to see those furry idiots (deer) that love to jump in front of you.

Just wondering if anyone knows of a better light for deer spotting????

On the other hand,,,,, once I have the DOR bumper on,,,,,,,, shoud I even care??????

I too am considering some really good driving lights. The cheapest and easiest way to go is probably 100 watt aircraft landing lights. I have run them on 3 or 4 of my vehicles over the last 25 years. I may put some on my Ram too.

deer horns

My dad used to haul Travel Trailers from the builder to the sales lot with his ram and had a lot of close calls . We put some deer horns on his truck and he said it was really cool the deer hear it and freeze until you are by. They are about 10. 00 dollars and stick onto the front of the truck . The air passing through them will make a sound the deer can hear but you cant. I am told that they must be traveling 35 miles or greater to be effective. (the horns not the deer :-laf ) They are available at most auto parts stores and come in chrome or black. Rich

I was wondering about that, Since we have dual batteries maybe one could set up some 28v/450watt units. They would draw only 16 amps. Found some here

At 3,900,000 Lumens they should light things up.

If you got the money look at the light force brand. The have driving lights, spot lights, and other high quality lights. We had a meet in Fairbanks a couple of weeks ago and most of the guys had light force 9" lights. You can change the color by putting on a different lens and you can change from spot to flood with same light. http://www.off-roadlights.com/driving lights.htm

The addition of a reunel bumper solved the deer issue all together for me. I have hit four deer and an antelope with the reunel and nothing happened to the frame, body, or innercooler, (I did suffer a disemboweled deer wrapped around my front axle and an antler in a tire once). So long as the Elks and Moose stay out of my path, I don't really want to see things jumping out from the roadside. It would only cause me to swerve and hit them at an angle. Remember, ins. only pays for deer hits if you can prove it was a deer or animal. Otherwise it is an accident. (That's how it works in MT anyways).

I guess if we had border crossers up here, I might light the road up more, but only thing I see on the roads on two legs are birds and staggering drunks, why bother?

My Piaa 9" pencil beams are great for off road, but way too bright to use "legally" on the streets, unless someone forgets to dim their high's :-laf

Lightforce lights are the real deal. I haven't seen to many lights that are more durable and versatile than they are. Sure, there are alot made which cost a little bit less, but, these are fine pieces of equipment.

Not only that, they make some of the best benchrest Riflescopes(their Nightforce Scopes) I have ever sat on top of a rifle,LOL... ..... Andy
