Well looking for a head unit can be a big job considering there is alott of models and brands out there. also you need to figure out what you want to do with it IE. . just play Cds or listen to Sat radio or just listen to AM FM Radio. And are you just going to buy a head unit and that is it or are you going to do a full blown system with multiple amps The biggest thing I have found out over the years the Cheap stuff doesent last!!

04. 5 Ctd 2wd 2500 6 speed Aeroturbine Alpine Head unit JL amp DynAudio for Highs and mids and another JL amp for a JL 10 under back seat

if you have the Infinity stereo, you can't swap out the head unit w/o bypassing the factory amp also. the factory uses the Canbus to communicate between the head unit and amp.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a after market head unit for a 2003 Q-cab.

If you have any intention of using an iPod anytime in the future, I would take a look at the Alpine units. I have installed them in both of my kids cars and will be putting one in my truck soon. The Alpine CDA series head units have DIN connector in the back that communicates with their CD Changers. They have an iPod interface that uses this port to talk to the iPod and also keeps the iPod charged. With this interface you can keep the iPod in your glove box or center console out of site and search through your music and playlists on the front panel of the head unit. Also, when buying your head unit, whichever unit you decide on, take a look at Crutchfield. Their prices are competitive and also include everything you need to install the system (wire adapters, antenna adapter, front panel bezel and complete very detailed installation instructions). Good luck.
